About this Cook
Married with two beautiful daughters. Public relations manager for a high tech company. Spend lots of my Internet time on
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially cakes and cookies. I also love to host a party just to try out new recipes, especially finger foods/appetizers. I also enjoy planning holiday menus, and I'm always on the lookout for new, delicious shrimp recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have lots of favorite comfort food recipes passed down from my Mom, especially her meatloaf, potato salad and spaghetti sauce.
My cooking triumphs
I remember making an elaborate cake shaped and decorated like a hamburger with all the trimmings when I was very young. That triumph still stands out as one of my favorites. Many of my co-workers have commented favorably on some of the baked goods I've brought in to work through the years.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to mention. As a general rule, I don't do soups well, although I don't know why. I can follow most any recipe and make it turn out well, although I don't "free form" or "improv" very well.

Spicy Baked Cod Fillets
Oustanding. Like another reviewer, I couldn't find ginger paste. Instead, I made a paste using crushed ginger and ground garam masala powder. Very flavorful and tasty.

Black Beans and Pork Chops
Easy and tasty. Like other readers, I rinsed the black beans before using to reduce sodium. I also added a bit of diced pineapple to sweeten the dish and served it with Johnny cakes instead of rice. Yum.
