Cheddar Fennel Potato Gratin

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2015
I had a difficult time understanding the instructions. I'd recommend the following: 1. Use one, not two, fennel bulbs. Cut the core from the fennel (it's not as tender). Remove the green top from the bulb and reserve the feather-like leaves for a garnish. 2. Layer the potatoes and fennel vertically, not horizontally (like a lasagne). If you do horizontal layers, the cream sauce won't reach all of the potatoes. Cut the potatoes like potato chips and stand them on their ends, not flat. 3. Consider this a potato dish with the fennel as a twist. The fennel, when baked, will have a mild flavor. My kids liked it, so that was a plus. But if you're looking for WOW! fennel flavor, you may want to try it grilled or raw.

Banana Cake V

Really great recipe--this is more like cake and less like bread! I loved it. I cut down the sugar to 1c and it was still very sweet. Also added walnuts and dried cranberries to the batter--yum. I used a Bundt pan and it came out beautifully after about 35-40 mins.

Favorite Banana Blueberry Quick Bread

easy and delicious. I made it with 1/2c white and 1/2c brown sugar. also added some spices: cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla. used muffin tins instead of a loaf pan and they came out very well. These are great!

Blueberry Muffins I

good recipe but I also added 1c berries. should've increased the sugar or added lemon zest...SOMEthing. They were good but didn't have much pizazz. Also used butter instead of oil. Very quick!! I put them in my mini muffin pan and they are cute!

Chocolate Cream Pudding

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
chocolate squares can't exist in my house for more than 24hr so I used 6tbl cocoa pwd and 2tbl butter to substitute. This seemed to work fine. It would help if the recipe said "stir until it forms a pudding consistency." I don't have much experience with pudding or corn starch so the first time I made this I stirred for two min and put in the fridge, thinking it'd congeal as it chilled. it does not! You need to stir until it is the consistency you want. Delicious and so fast! loved it.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Very good and very easy. It was too hot last night to turn on my oven so I did this on the stovetop and added some water so it wouldn't burn. Mixed with broccoli, mushrooms, and served with rice.
