Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2014
This is wonderful, and the spice mix with pepper and nutmeg is PERFECT - one of the best I have ever had. I will make up some of the spice mix to use every day with my own brewed tea. I reduced the sugar as suggested by earlier reviewers, because most Chai mixes are too sweet for me. I made vanilla sugar with one cup of granulated sugar, instead of the vanilla creamer. Rather than try to whir all the powder, instead I used a little coffee/spice grinder and put the spices (including the nutmeg and black pepper) in there with 1/2 cup of the vanilla sugar and powdered it all. That worked very well, and really opened up the flavors and heat of the spices. Two thumbs up!

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2013
Excellent just as written for perfect brownies. I made a double batch and baked in a 9x13 pan for 30 minutes to get 16 brownies. Perfect with all purpose flour (& no other changes) as well as self-rising. Thanks for a good, reliable recipe!

Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
A very good old-fashioned coconut pie. I made it for my Dad for Father's Day and topped it with the "Unbaked Meringue" from Allrecipes. Thanks! :-)

Unbaked Meringue

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
Great recipe and good tasting meringue. I went ahead and used 4 egg whites since I didn't want to waste them but I left the other ingredients at original measurements. It came out very nice. There is exactly enough to top one 9" pie (I made the Coconut Cream Pie). I am just waiting for my husband to use his little torch and brown the peaks now! :-)

Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
YUM! I made this recipe today, as a way of using up leftover Granny Smith apple slices from a fruit tray. The apples were not peeled, and were just sliced thinly. I left them like that, and otherwise followed the recipe precisely. Using the slow cooker allowed the apple peels to cook down and become unnoticeable in the dish. This is so good, and was so easy! Thank you!

THE Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
I made this using cheese-stuffed tortellini, because I needed more of a main dish type salad, and left out the cheese in the recipe. I took it to a covered dish luncheon of men and women, and people raved! They loved it and ate seconds. I look forward to trying it with the shells and Swiss cheese next time. Thank you for sharing this! :-)

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
My husband said these are the best pancakes he has ever had in his life. We are both floored by how truly "above and beyond" this pancake recipe is. We will never use another. Thank you, kris, for sharing it! :-)

Pumpkin Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This is a great basic recipe. Nice and spicy, with a creamy texture, and fills a deep dish pie generously. Being out of brown sugar, I used white cane sugar (a scant cup), and pure Cane Syrup since I was also out of molasses. Cane syrup, what the British call "golden syrup" has a light molasses flavor. I also added a pinch of allspice and about a teaspoon of fresh grated nutmeg. My husband said it's one of the best pumpkin pies he's had. Thanks for posting the recipe! :-)
