Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
I hate fish. However, my husband does not, and I love him so much I was willing to take one for the team and try this recipe out. The outcome...I still hate fish. BUT, if I did like fish, I would eat it like this. The cheese dressing was delicious. My husband really liked it. I think anyone who enjoys eating fish will like this recipe. And anyone who does not, will enjoy scrapping off the topping like I did. I did omit the lemon juice and I added garlic powder as I would put that on ice cream if I could. All in all, this is easy, quick, and worth a shot. The only down side is...it's fish.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
Easy and edible. That's about it. I think it could have used another can of soup (I used crm. of mushroom). It's very bland. I had to keep salting just to be able to eat. I just happened to have all the ingredients so I thought I'd give it a try. I guess it was worth a shot but I won't make again unless in a very tight pinch.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Easy and tasty. I used with "Jay's Signature Pizza Crust" and my husband said it was the best pizza he's ever had. Believe me, he isn't afraid to say something I cooked doesn't taste good. Will make regularly. Cheaper and tastier than delivery. (I left out the cayenne, red pepper, and honey)

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I'm giving this three stars because these cookies tasted good, however lacked something in presentation. The edges were toasted brown and very thin. The middle however was warm and gooey. Just like I like them. They did fall apart though and even though I greased the baking sheet, it was hard to remove them. I allowed them to cool 20 minutes so I don't believe this was the problem. The taste I would definitely give 5 stars! But I was expecting mine to look like a Keebler elf had baked them. Maybe I did something wrong during the mixing stage? I will try again. (revised to 5 stars) have made many more times and I love, love, love them. I think you have to rarely the recipe a little but these are great.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I planned on making this tomorrow as an appetizer, but I wanted to try it out beforehand. Big mistake because after making 4 or 5 I had to make the whole loaf of bread. My husband I devoured it and I look forward to making again tomorrow! So delicious. I used Italian seasoned diced tomatoes in a can and I also used the basil from my spice rack. I took the advice of others and brushed the bread with olive oil and baked for 5 minutes on 400, then added the tomato mixture and mozz and baked for another 5. The bread came out perfect! Enough crunch without being too hard. The best bruschetta I've ever tasted.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
This is very similar to my own, however I enjoyed this one alot. I don't know if you put the two side by side if there would be much of a difference, however I liked the taste of this more. I didn't use the cornflake topping or the onions since my family prefers it without. This is definitely replacing my own.

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I made these for myself and 3 men. There are none left so I must say, they must be good. I thought they were going to be too biscuity, and they did border on it, but they were still very addictive. I served with a sauce my friend told me about, (1 cup mayo, 1 tbsp mustard) and that help with the dryness of the baking mix. I will make again. Very easy.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
These were just ok. A friend gave me this recipe and raved about it. I personally thought they were too sweet and I eat cupcakes for breakfast. I wish I had ice cream. I think that would have cut the sweetness and made these better in my eyes. Worth trying once, but I think I'll look for another recipe.

Melt In Your Mouth Toffee

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
I'm giving this three stars because I can't decide if I like this or not. Better than the other recipe I tried on here, but very, very sweet. I think this one is just a matter of opinion. I wouldn't be ashamed to share the toffee, but not sure everyone would love. Alot of butter separated when I poured into the pan. I wasn't a fan of that. I guess this is worth a try.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I hate to say it but this ones a bust for me. I don't have a candy thermometer, but I used the cold water trick to test my temp (spoon some sugar syrup into cold water and the pliability helps determine temperature). I think when the toffee was close to 280 it was still a golden color. I didn't mind the color but after taste testing, the toffee was very very chewy. Almost like taffy. Not even 5 minutes later the syrup was the dark amber color. It had the right color and crack to it, however it tasted burnt. I hate that I wasted so much butter but I wasn't willing to waste the fridge space. I'll try another recipe.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Very sticky. Hard to roll and cut. I gave up and spooned the dough onto the baking sheet and made rounds. The dough was tasty. Not the cookie. Very cakey texture. I was not a fan.

Juicy Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Unbelievable! Everyone said how juicy this turkey was. You have no idea. So good! I even messed up. In the stress of taking on Thanksgiving dinner and making my first turkey, I actually forgot to pour the broth and champagne over top. Two hours into baking I went ahead and did pour. Still turned out awesome. Who knows how good it would have tasted if I had done in correctly. I did use a baking bag instead of foil. Turkey fell off the bone and full of juice. Recommend highly. Will defintely make again.

Virginia Clise Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I made these today for Thankgiving dinner. I wish I hadn't. They were very "heavy". Not fluffy at all. Not a very good taste. Will not make again.

Deep Fried French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
I was excited to try this but was really disappointed. It just tasted like deep fried bread. Even after I added cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg. I tried to improve it, because I really did want to like it. It was edible after I put syrup on it. Won't try again.

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I had an ex-boyfriend who's mom tried over and over again to teach me how to make sausage gravy. My results were always unedible. This was my last attempt at making it, and the results were wonderful. So tasty and yummy! I didn't measure anything out, just did it by eye. I only used half a package of sausage, because I didn't want to waste any. I didn't have what I thought was enought grease, so I added butter as one review suggested. This is a great recipe. Will definitely make again and next time will use the whole package.

Homemade Crispy Seasoned French Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
Very tasty!! I sliced my potatoes so they were round. I also used beer instead of water. The batter didn't smell so great but my fries turned out very crispy. Not at all soggy. I cooked in a skillet until brown on both sides. I didn't use garlic or onion salt. Instead I used garlic and onion powder and added a little more salt and substituted black pepper for the paprika. I will definitely make again. Worth a try!

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Flavorful and moist. I forgot to spoon the sauce because I was busy cooking other things. Also, because of baking other dishes I added 5-10 minutes to the recipe, being as though I kept opening the oven. This in no way dryed the chicken. Came out juicy and tender. A great way to use your spice rack and a nice change to average chicken. Will make again.

Creamy Green Beans Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
I'm giving this four stars because I felt that the green beans were undercooked, however that may have been because I wanted to follow the recipe as far as cooking time and I boiled the bean "until just barely tender". Next time I will do longer. Also I felt the sauce was too parmeseany. Again, maybe my fault because I don't really measure things out. I do by feel. But overall, a nice change to normal dull green beans. Worth a try. I'll make again and change to taste.

Crab and Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
Unbelievable! These were so good, my husband and I couldn't stop eating them. I can't wait to show these off at the next potluck. I did substitute Italian breadcrumbs for the croutons and I added a little olive oil because the mix seemed somewhat dry.

Arlene's Bacon & Crabmeat

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
I was so excited to try this recipe for a party I have coming up. I wanted to try it out before hand so I made them for my husband. He really liked them, I however did not. Maybe because of all the great reviews I had my hopes up higher than I should have. I personally was let down. My husband thinks they will go over well, but I thought they were disappointing. I love crab and bacon both so I was craving these ever since I came across the recipe. Now I don't think I will make them. I will say it's hard not to keep eating them, despite the taste.
