Quick Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
I really liked this recipe; I think it's a really good simple jumping point to making pasta sauce to your own taste :) I made this a few months ago, adding more garlic, basil, oregano, and lots of crushed red pepper flakes (I love my sauces spicy) and it was a really good sauce. I would recommend it to anyone who is just starting to make their own pasta sauces. Best part is I always have almost all of this on hand!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
I made these yesterday with my boyfriend, and they were well liked between both of us, his family, and a few friends :D They didn't come out chewy, which was a letdown, but that was definitely because we hadn't let the dough chill in the refrigerator like was recommended by many reviewers. We also didn't have any baking soda, so we used twice the amount of baking powder, and eliminated the salt. We couldn't find "semisweet" chocolate in London, so I bought a mixture of milk and dark baking chocolate, which turned out quite nice :D But next time, we'll definitely try to chill the dough first.

Rice with Black Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
I made this yesterday, and thought it was pretty delicious. I used regular white rice instead of instant, since that's what we had on hand, and I pulled a can of diced tomatoes that actually already had garlic, oregano, and basil in it so it was an easy preparation. I also used a red onion, since that's all I had on hand, but it was still great. A lot of people say that the flavor is a little bland, which I agree, but I have a weird enjoying of certain types of bland food, so it didn't bother me much. I did add a packet of Sazon seasoning, 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper and a dash of cumin, though, but I think 1/4 tsp was a little too much. I didn't actually need to add more liquid like others had to, so I guess that just depends on if your tomatoes and black beans are especially watery or not.

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This is one of my favourite recipes ever. I love the combination of artichokes, spinach, and feta, and this is probably the ultimate way to do it. It was fairly easy, and sooo delicious. My mom and I made it once for a holiday supper and everyone who dared to try it loved it.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
I used to make this all the time when I was obsessed with falafel. I simply didn't like it any other way than this recipe. Some people said they tasted good baked, and I've tried that and I didn't like it very much. Had a weird taste rather than when they're fried. I'd sacrifice those calories, anyway =P The cucumber sauce is absolutely amazing. It's definitely my favorite part of the recipe.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
I did not enjoy these brownies. I followed the recipe exactly, but the brownies came out tasting way too sugary. I couldn't enjoy the chocolatey-ness which I look forward to enjoying when I bite into a brownie. The only reason I put 2 stars instead of 1 is that the texture did come out quite nice: nice and crispy on top but gooey at the bottom. I wouldn't make this again unless I had to, and even then I wouldn't put so much sugar in it.
