What happen to all those peaches?

Sometimes by myself and other times with friends I tackled about 130 lbs of peaches this summer. Here are some pictures of what became of the peaches that crossed the threshold of my kitchen.

Team Up to cann peaches and make 40 quarts in 1/2 day.

Sweet Peaches

The frozen peaches I use for morning smoothies along with various berries. My favorite way to use frozen peaches is to make ice-cream in my Vita-Mix:

Peach Ice-Cream
3 cups frozen peaches
1/2 c -3/4 cup sugar
1/2 c -3/4 cup milk or cream
1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Blend on high until a consistent, thick mixture. Serve immediately or freeze until more solid.

I had a few this summer, and we grilled them, served it with vanilla ice cream

wow! You are VERY productive with your peaches! :) Me? I just ate them....one at a time (sometimes 2) and dripped juice all over myself...;) I really need a bib when I peaches and watermelon!

What/where did you get the peach salsa recipe from???? looks indredibly yummy!

I got the recipe from a canning cookbook, but the recipe on this site that I would try next time is Peach Salsa II. Tip: make sure and taste it. Add a little more sugar if its not sweet enough.

From this site I made Peach Upside Down Cake I and Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler. Both easy and good recipes that I will make again before peach season ends.

My BF grilled them, so I'm not sure about the heat. But I just threw together a sauce of melted butter and brown sugar, brushed it on and grilled them face down.

WOW! here i was feelin' pretty proud of the 30 lbs I dealt with this season! The salsa looks wonderful. When you freeze the slices, do you use the freshfruit on them? So far for freezing I put the freshfruit on them,cover them in applejuice and freeze them in bags.

I didn't have freshfruit on hand, so I just dunked pieces into a bit of lemon juice mixed with water. A little lemon juice goes a long way. I think I used to much, they are a bit tart.

I teamed up with my husband last week and pressure canned 12 quarts of peaches (because I'm anal retentive about germs and the pressure canner was being used all day prior to canning the peaches). He had a brilliant idea of buying a whole bushel of peaches knowing that I don't like them. After some whining and pleading, I finally gave in. We made a deal that he would help me can them since I didn't want them in the first place. Took us about 3 hours. Did you gals use a preservative or anything to keep the peaches from browning? Maybe it was just because I pressure canned my jars but mine are a bit discolored. Orange peach color is more dulled if you know what I mean.

spitfire - I did use what I had left of fruit fresh. I dissolved it into the sugar water. It seemed to help. So glad to hear you found a Team Up partner.
