Grandma Maggio's Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2013
Super easy recipe I use all the time. I don't buy the bottled stuff anymore. And it's versatile. Sometimes I leave out the wine, mushrooms and garlic and it's still good!

Turtle Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
Awesome recipe! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was a little too sweet. I think I may use unsweetened chocolate next to cut down on the sugar. Otherwise, it was superb and got rave reviews. The only modifications I made was microwaved the caramel and milk as someone suggested, as opposed to heating them on the burner. I did use grahm cracker crumbs because that is all I had, but next time I will def try the oreo crumb crust. I think it will taste a lot better. Last, I reserved some of the caramel mix and pecans so I can add them to the top of the cheesecake. I also melted more chocolate chips with 2 tbsp of butter to drizzle it on top. It looked as good as it tasted!

Pumpkin Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
These brownies might seem like a weird combo but they are not. I followed the recipe as is in an 8x8 pan and they came out very moist. They were delicious and I might make them again next year.

These were good for a healthy waffle recipe. The nuts are what made them better.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
We followed some reviewers suggestions and cut the milk by a half cup and added 7 eggs altogether. We, however, did not use regular white bread. We had some leftover garlic bread so we used that and did not toast it. We also used regular sausage. We are so used to "light" sausage, however that the taste of the regular was too strong as well as the combination of the garlic bread. It came out very rich. Next time I think I will use regular bread and add garlic and possibly 'light' sausage. The amount of eggs and milk was great. The texture was perfect. I may make this again but I don't think it will be for Christmas. I'll reserve our Christmas breakfast for a much more delicious and decadent dish.

Fish Tacos with Honey-Cumin Cilantro Slaw and Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
Great recipe! The only things I do differently are substitute homemade corn tortillas for the flour (they are much tastier!), and since I don't have panko crumbs I just use regular whole wheat bread crumbs and they come out great.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
It's delicious. If you are going to color the icing, dissolve the salt in the cream first. If you don't, you will get little white spots after the color sets. Otherwise, it's not too sweet. I would advise to follow the recipe as is. Adding all the sugar gives it a good consistency. Believe it or not, it does not add to the sweetness. If you think it's too sweet after adding all the sugar, add a little salt to cut the sweetness. If you think it's too dry, add a little water in small amounts. A little goes a long way.

Orange Cucumber Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
It's a great quick salad you can whip up for a fast dinner. I've made it now with and without the onion and it's great either way. If you do add the onion and you're not really a raw onion person, be sure to cut them really thin and small.

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
I was somewhat disappointed in this cake. It was very crumby so it kept breaking and the taste was too rich for me. I think I may keep looking for a good flourless chocolate cake recipe.

Pro Ganache

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
i was disappointed in this ganache. it tasted good but i was hoping for the kind of ganache that thickens to the point you can make truffles out of it or get to a frosting consistency to spread on a cake....I realized after making it that it contains too much whipping cream to thicken like that.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
These cookies are really good except I think I will use less ginger next time. It was quite strong in the aftertaste. I also wouldn't flatten them as much. They look better and taste better thicker. Otherwise, these were great.

Ragu® Pizza Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
This is actually a pretty good recipe. At first it appeared the burger would be mediocre at best, but the sauce really stood out in the burger. I used extra lean meat and the sauce helped moisten it without adding all the fat. It was very good. I think next time I'll use low fat or fat free mozzarella as well to have an even leaner, yet tasty burger. Will make these again!
