Almond-Topped Fish

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. My husband couldn't get enough. We used cod and it was so moist. We followed the recipe exactly and it came out beautifully. Looks like a restaraunt dish.

Asian Cucumber Thai Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
I used 3 regular sized cucumbers and it still made a large bowl. I might swap the cilantro for parsley next time since we aren't big cilantro fans. I wanted to make it as written the first time. I would add more nuts too because it gave it a great unexpected cruch. Perfect amount of spice.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
What a fantastic chili recipe. I was reluctant at first because of the simplicity of the ingredients but what a flavorful and easy recipe. I usually make the boilermaker tailgate chili on this site but wanted something a little quicker this time. I added an extra can of diced tomatoes after cooking awhile because it was a little thick. I also added two roasted green chilis. Will make often!!

Butternut Squash Soup with a Kick

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
YUM!! A very rich and delicious soup. I had to add a little more broth since my squash was a little large. I also added a couple splashes of dry white wine. To save on fat calories I substituted fat-free evap. milk and light coconut milk. It is still very decadent. After it was done and blended I added a little more fresh ginger and some sriracha. One jalepeno wasnt quite enough for our taste. Didn't feel it needed the sugar or the sour cream. We don't usually care for the sweetness of butternut squash soup so this was a great alternative. Will definately make this again and again!!!!

Asian Asparagus Salad with Pecans

very good, a little salty. Pecans are a great addition. I've made them twice so far and will be making again.

Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
What a great surprise. I wanted something new to do with my leftover turkey and am happy to have come across this recipe. I made it exactly as written then seperated half and added some course ground dijon and a big spoonful of Italian giardiniera that I pulsed in the food processor first. Delicious both ways. Can't wait to try with roast chicken. Next time I'll try some Franks red hot to change it up some more. This can make a great sandwich or even a dip if you process enough in the food processor. So many possibilities. I'm hungry now! Thanks for sharing :-))

Apple Pecan Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
This was a great recipe but a little on the sweet side for my taste. I cut the juice in half and subbed chicken broth. I loved the pecans and the apple. I might try a spicy sausage to make it a little more savory. Overall an excellent recipe.

Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Very good. I left out the msg for obvious reasons. The recipe made way more filling than I could use with the dough recipe. I ended up buying store bought pie crust and it worked great. I also put some filling in ramikens and topped with crust to make pot pies. They were a HUGE hit. I added a little worcestershire to the second batch of dough and preferred the flavor to the original.

Sooooooo good! I substituted 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 cup oil. I've made it several times with both fresh and frozen berries. It is wonderful everytime and freezes wonderfully.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
Delicious! A very moist, dense bread. I followed recipe exactly aside from having to add a few extra minutes to the cooking time. Next time I might sub some applesauce for some butter to cut some calories and fat. I will definately add walnuts, I like some crunch. Overall, a keeper!

Grilled Fish Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
This was delicious. My husband said it was one of the best fish dishes he's had. We used a non-stick skillet instead of the grill as it was too hot outside but it was wonderful just the same. I also used fresh basil from the garden instead of dried.

Cheesy Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
I thought these were delicious. I used ground turkey and mizithra cheese as well as parmesan. I had to add a few more breadcrumbs and refridgerate to stiffen meat up for meatballs. They were tender and very flavorful.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
One of the best lemon recipes I've ever made. I used fresh lemons and blueberries. I did poke holes in the top before applying the glaze because it just wanted to roll right off. It had a nice crispy crust and an awesome lemon flavor. I wouldn't skimp on the lemon at all. It took about 10 mniutes longer in the oven but came out moist and delicious. It is a cross between bread and cake and we served it more like a dessert with a dollop of whipped cream. Simply divine!!

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
These were the best ribs I've ever had in my life. They were incredibly easy to make and soooo tender. The sauce is something I'll make for a lot of different meats. My husband is still talking about them.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Absolutely delicious!!! I will be making this on a regular basis. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The sauce was over the top. I might try baking next time to change it up a bit and try to lighten up the sauce where possible so I can enjoy eating it more often.

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Just made this frosting to frost a yellow butter cake. I followed other reviewer suggestions and cut back the sifted powdered sugar to 2 cups and I added 1 tsp. instant coffee. I love the hint of coffee and the sour cream gives it a nice tang but I still find it to be quite sweet. It made my teeth tingle a little :-)) It is very chocolatey and rich on its own so hopefully tasting it on cake may tone it down a bit, Overall, very delicious and creamy. I'd make it again for the ease of it alone. I might try mixing the semi-sweet with some other types of chocolate to change it up now and again.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
Delicious cake! Everybody LOVED it. I gave it 4 stars because after following the recipe exactly I had trouble getting the cakes out of their pans. One I pieced together, one was fine and one went into a baggie for snacking. Besides that it was excellent and I will try it again in the 9x13 pan. The frosting was great too. It took a little while and I wasn't sure if it would be thick enough but after it cooled it was perfect! I'm getting a sweet tooth thinking about it.

Dijon Crusted Halibut

I loved the mustard spread although I found the breadcrumb topping to be a tad soggy. I raised it in the oven to try and crisp it up but it remained quite soft.
