Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2013
Really good blend. I use a gluten free AP flour in place of the white flour to avoid wheat for my husband. Easy to make in bulk and I use it as a taco seasoning as well.

I followed the recipe exactly except I used 1lb. hot italian sausage and 1lb. grass fed beef. One of the best chilis I've ever made. Next time I'll make sure to have turkey on hand to up the healthy factor a bit.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2013
Delicious soup and very filling. I followed the recipe almost exactly except for adding a parsnip just to use it up and I did need to add a little more chicken stock. I also tossed in a pinch of red pepper flakes for some kick. I also removed some of the veggies before blending and added them back at the end. I'm making it again today and I'll try adding some spicy sausage. Love this recipe!!

No-Noodle Zucchini Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2013
This is as good as any lasagna with noodles. I almost follow the recipe but I use dehydrated mix of wild mushrooms and hydrate them with water. I use the mushroom water in my sauce and reduce until thick. I also add 4-5 cloves of minced garlic. I use a towel to get all the water out of the spinach. I also have tried it with a mix of Italian sausage and it's wonderful. I've made this several times and usually split it into to batches and freeze one. It freezes beautifully. BTW, it takes much longer than 30 minutes to prepare but worth every minute!!

Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2013
Fantastic! I followed the recipe exactly. Will definately make this again and try adding different veggies to change it up. I cooked the asparagus way down too. It is creamy even with fat-free milk and fat-free yogurt. Love, love, love this recipe.

Carol's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 25, 2012
This is a really delicious recipe. I followed directions except for the chestnuts which I substituted pecan pieces for and instead of swiss I used horseradish cheddar because it's what I had. I also used canned chunk chicken breast which worked out perfectly. Perfect for a hot summer day!

Cheesy Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
I thought these were delicious. I used ground turkey and mizithra cheese as well as parmesan. I had to add a few more breadcrumbs and refridgerate to stiffen meat up for meatballs. They were tender and very flavorful.

I just made this for my husbands lunch and it is delicious. Im not a fan of sweet pickle relish but in this recipe it's wonderful. I especially like the curry, it adds a unique flavor but not to overpowering. Will absolutely make again! Yummy

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Just made this frosting to frost a yellow butter cake. I followed other reviewer suggestions and cut back the sifted powdered sugar to 2 cups and I added 1 tsp. instant coffee. I love the hint of coffee and the sour cream gives it a nice tang but I still find it to be quite sweet. It made my teeth tingle a little :-)) It is very chocolatey and rich on its own so hopefully tasting it on cake may tone it down a bit, Overall, very delicious and creamy. I'd make it again for the ease of it alone. I might try mixing the semi-sweet with some other types of chocolate to change it up now and again.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
Delicious cake! Everybody LOVED it. I gave it 4 stars because after following the recipe exactly I had trouble getting the cakes out of their pans. One I pieced together, one was fine and one went into a baggie for snacking. Besides that it was excellent and I will try it again in the 9x13 pan. The frosting was great too. It took a little while and I wasn't sure if it would be thick enough but after it cooled it was perfect! I'm getting a sweet tooth thinking about it.

Butternut Squash Soup with a Kick

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
YUM!! A very rich and delicious soup. I had to add a little more broth since my squash was a little large. I also added a couple splashes of dry white wine. To save on fat calories I substituted fat-free evap. milk and light coconut milk. It is still very decadent. After it was done and blended I added a little more fresh ginger and some sriracha. One jalepeno wasnt quite enough for our taste. Didn't feel it needed the sugar or the sour cream. We don't usually care for the sweetness of butternut squash soup so this was a great alternative. Will definately make this again and again!!!!

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
One of the best lemon recipes I've ever made. I used fresh lemons and blueberries. I did poke holes in the top before applying the glaze because it just wanted to roll right off. It had a nice crispy crust and an awesome lemon flavor. I wouldn't skimp on the lemon at all. It took about 10 mniutes longer in the oven but came out moist and delicious. It is a cross between bread and cake and we served it more like a dessert with a dollop of whipped cream. Simply divine!!

Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
What a great surprise. I wanted something new to do with my leftover turkey and am happy to have come across this recipe. I made it exactly as written then seperated half and added some course ground dijon and a big spoonful of Italian giardiniera that I pulsed in the food processor first. Delicious both ways. Can't wait to try with roast chicken. Next time I'll try some Franks red hot to change it up some more. This can make a great sandwich or even a dip if you process enough in the food processor. So many possibilities. I'm hungry now! Thanks for sharing :-))

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
What a fantastic chili recipe. I was reluctant at first because of the simplicity of the ingredients but what a flavorful and easy recipe. I usually make the boilermaker tailgate chili on this site but wanted something a little quicker this time. I added an extra can of diced tomatoes after cooking awhile because it was a little thick. I also added two roasted green chilis. Will make often!!

Apple Pecan Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
This was a great recipe but a little on the sweet side for my taste. I cut the juice in half and subbed chicken broth. I loved the pecans and the apple. I might try a spicy sausage to make it a little more savory. Overall an excellent recipe.

Dijon Crusted Halibut

I loved the mustard spread although I found the breadcrumb topping to be a tad soggy. I raised it in the oven to try and crisp it up but it remained quite soft.
