Picnic at the Park
I love to cook but I love to eat more!
About this Cook
When I was a little girl my mother would have me follow her around in the kitchen so that I could learn a thing or two. As a child we always want to do the opposite of what we're told, so I never paid attention. Did that come to bite me in the butt! Now that I am an adult and have discovered my passion for cooking, I only wish I could go back in time and write down all those wonderful recipes my mother tried to get me to learn! Luckily, my mother is always eager to share her recipes and she's just a phone call away.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking up a storm. I grew up eating Mexican food everyday, so I really enjoy making that. I also have a passion for Southern foods. Just because I'm from Chicago doesn't meant I can't enjoy some good ol' Southern cooking! Baking is another passion of mine. Cookies, cheesecake, cakes, brownies, muffins, I always have something good bakin' in my oven!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always go crazy with the baking around the holidays. My mom's tradition is making homemade tamales (pork & sweet ones)on Christmas. I have yet to learn to make them! There is always a pumpkin pie baking in the oven in the fall. When summer comes around, grilling outdoors is our favorite.
My cooking triumphs
Three years ago I made my first Thanksgiving dinner, turkey & all. My mother passed down her turkey & stuffing recipes over the phone and I triumphed! My dad joked and asked if I burnt it but he did not know just how finger lickin' good that turkey was!

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo
Excellent gumbo! I absolutely loved this soup. I used only 2 quarts of chicken broth and it was more than enough. I also threw in a tomato bouillon cube. The end result was marvelous!
