My favorite things to cook
I love it when I can make tasty, healthy, inexpensive meals from stuff I have on hand in the freezer and pantry. We butcher a pig and chickens every year and a beef every couple years with family and friends, so that's basically all the meat I ever use. I grow a large garden and freeze or can the veggies from that every year. I try to avoid cheese as much as possible because it is so very expensive. I love trying new recipes that fit those guidelines. My husband is a spice nut, and he has taught me that spices are often the most important ingredient. Now I love trying to combine the right spices and make a blah meal yummy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For birthdays, my mom always let us choose the menu for the meal, even if it didn't complement it's self. I'd love to do that in my home, but my husband's birthday is December 24. Hopefully, when I have kids, their birthdays are more convenient.
My cooking triumphs
I can't think of any outstanding achievements, but I love it when I try a new recipe, and my husband or guests devour it. (Of course) It happens often enough to keep me trying new recipes.
My cooking tragedies
One time I was asked to bring french bread to a large church function because I made such good french bread. Well, I made one batch. It was flat and hard. I made another one. Same thing. By then it was too late to try again. Lucky for me, my mom was one of the committee in charge of the meal (and no, she was not the one who suggested I make the bread), so I told her I would buy it all. Well, she had a bunch of bread in the freezer, so she just took that. But it was a case of "pride goeth before a fall."

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
This is great! I made it for guests, and they loved it! I cooked it in my crockpot while I was at church. I used drumsticks and bone-in thighs and served it over rice The sauce was a bit too runny, but tasted delish. I put in the recommended amount of sugar, approximately. I warmed the chicken up in the oven at 400F for half an hour and then left it in the crockpot on high for 3 1/2 - 4 hours and it was just done. If possible , it should be in for a bit longer. Anyway, it's a keeper!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough
This was a very good thin crust, which is what my husband and I like. I used half a cup of whole wheat flour instead of all white and only 1 egg, like other reviewers did. It seemed a little tough - next time I'll try adding baking powder to make it just a bit puffy, like another review said. And it did not need to be baked for 25 min. I will be keeping this one.
