About this Cook
I'm a Mississippi girl, though I've lived in Germany, Colorado, and now Utah...and visited many places, including Spain, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Sweden, France, and Austria. I love to travel, and would love to be able to travel all over the world with my family...I'm a wife and stay at home mom of 4 boys, ages 17, 16, 10 and 3. I have a great husband...my knight in shining armor. :-) I've been cooking since I was about 16 and had a small self owned baking/cake decorating business for a few years. I still do cakes, wedding cakes, pies, cookies...anything you can bake. I am a really good, true southern cook, learned from my mom. Not the healthiest, but definitely the best of all cooking. (in my opinion. ;-) )
My favorite things to cook
Special occasion cakes, yeast breads, most things baked...I love to really feel like I'm creating something, and I do when I bake...I love to have my hands in dough and flour...lol
My favorite family cooking traditions
Of course getting together for the holidays and cooking everyone's favorites. I take requests from each member of my family and always cook/bake the thing that they love most at holiday time.
My cooking triumphs
Well, I just made a 4 tier stacked wedding cake for my niece and it was really short notice. I had 4 days to get it all together. It was super stressful and I spent a lot of hours on it...a few times I really didn't think I'd pull it off, but it actually came out pretty good and my niece loved it. I felt pretty triumphant. Lol..
My cooking tragedies
Ohhh...I've had a good many of those since moving from Mississippi to Utah. Had to practically re-learn baking. Nothing turns out the same here. It's been pretty frustrating at time. ;-)

Best No-Bake Cheesecake
Super good and easy recipe for a quick cheesecake fix . I would give it 5 stars, but I think the amount of cream is off. I used 1/2 cup heavy cream to the 2 boxes cream cheese. Maybe the full amount of cream (whipped separately from the cream cheese and folded in) is good if you like a fluffy texture and less cream cheese flavor. I like a denser, richer feel, so the 1/2 cup was perfect for me. I doubled the lemon juice and as many reviewers suggested, used 2/3 cup sugar. Great flavor, nice and thick. I didn't whip the cream first....just poured it into the cream cheese mixture and whipped for about 3 minutes. Really like this recipe, and will use it often. Thanks!

Chewy Sugar Cookies
No sense really, in rating this recipe since it has so many reviews already, but I've got to. Thank you for an amazing sugar cookie recipe. It's amazing how many variations of sugar cookies there are, but this is my absolute favorite. A little thin, very chewy, crisp around the edges...perfect! We've almost made ourselves sick from them! The ONLY thing I did different was to add 1/2 butter and 1/2 margarine. Other than that, followed the recipe exactly. I rolled half in sugar and the other half in cinnamon sugar. Both were delicious, the cinnamon ones were ridiculously good. Thanks again!

Chicken Pot Pie with Cheddar Crust
I give this recipe 2 stars...I can't rate it completely fair though, because I only used the cheddar crust. I hate to give negative reviews, but this crust was dry, tasteless, and very hard. I felt like it needed a lot more butter and more water to hold it together, and also a tsp of salt should've been stirred in with the flour. Sorry, I think the idea of a cheddar crust is a good one, but it needs to be more of a crust and not a hard, stale, giant cracker.
