I just made this for the first time and no sooner had I removed it from the pan to the cooling rack, both of my children (ages 1 & 2) went off like car alarms. They gobbled up the warm sample pieces, meaning, this recipe gets their approval. I followed the recipe almost exactly, only melting my butter in the microwave instead of a pan and used Karen's suggestion of mixing 2 Tbsp lemon juice with milk since I didn't have buttermilk. I'm not sure why everyone says this is too sweet, because for me, it tasted fine, though if you're looking for a more prominent corn flavor that the box mixes have, this isn't the recipe you're looking for.
