I'm a small-town girl who now lives in a "big small-town". My husband and I have been together for 13 years, and we have three wonderful children. My family is everything to me!
My favorite things to cook
Pasta--I like to go wild, throwing all kinds of stuff in, but for now, I have to keep it mellow, since my kids are picky eaters. I love baking but don't need the extra treats around--I'm weak-willed!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We do a "pasta cook-off" every year with my brother-in-law, and that's a lot of fun. He and I are the best cooks! We also do a "progressive dinner" every year for Christmas, and that's a great time as well.
My cooking triumphs
I hosted an event at home a year ago and made all sorts of snacks and treats and displayed them beautifully. I was proud of myself that day!
My cooking tragedies
Quiche--I confused evaporated milk for condensed milk, so the quiche was sweet; plus, instead of swiss cheese, I used pepper-jack; lastly, instead of regular breakfast sausages, I put in the spicy kind. It was sweet and spicy at the same time--not good!

Chicago-Style Hot Dog
I lived in Chicago for a year and I was BROKE! One of the few things I could afford when I wanted to treat myself was a Chicago dog and fries. Talk about bang for your buck! This recipe looks perfect! Thanks for submitting--I hadn't known that the secret to the soft bun was steaming it!

Chocolate Zucchini Cake II
This is the first cake I've made "from scratch" in years... A neighbor gave me some zuchini, as he had last year. I was unsure what to do with it, since I've got picky eaters. Last year, I'd made zuchini bread, which was awesome, but only DH and I ate it. Decided to try this recipe, and it was a huge hit! I sort of shredded the zuchini in my Magic Bullet, so nobody would see it. Also, I used baker's chocolate instead of chocolate chips, stirring them in rather than sprinkling on top. Lastly, I mixed up a chocolate powdered sugar glaze to drizzle on top. We'll make this again and again!

Garlic Cheddar Chicken
This was fantastic--even my picky eaters cleared their plates! I followed others' suggestions, using Panko instead of regular bread crumbs, greasing the pan and sprinkling a few crumbs in there first. It was perfect! We'll have this again and again!
