Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Good flavor! Added a cornstarch slurry to thicken it. Was quite spicy- add hot sauce judiciously. Would be good with bell peppers, carrots, and sugar snap peas! We put cashews on top too! A winner!

Very tastey. I left out the honey and it was plenty sweet for me.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2011
I wasn't that impressed. I used this marinade on grilled chicken and veggie skewers. I did add the garlic that otheres reccommended. I let the chicken and veggies marinate for 20 hourse. I don't think I'll try this recipe again.

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Great recipe! Received lots of compliments! I like things flavorful so I added extra orange juice and zest. I also added 1 cup white chocochips and left out the nuts and left off the frosting. I aso used 1 cup craisins instead of fresh crans and it worked well! Don't overcook - mine only needed 11-12 min. Will make again!

Addictive Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
Great recipe! I did 2 cups of wholewheat flour and 2 and 3/4 cup with white flour. Taste and texture turned out fine. I also added 2 tsp of all of the spices as I like things flavorful. I also added 1/2 tsp of ginger. Also, tried choco chips instead of raisins and turned out delicious!

Lemon Blueberry Drop Scones

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
These were tasty. I think they are a cross between a blueberry muffin and a traditional English scone. They arents has dense and dry as traditional scones. The texture of them is sort of similiar to a muffin. I served them with lemon curd.

Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
I wasn't sure if I would like the ginger in this recipe; but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor it created when mixed with the mango. I felt like the salsa needed additional texture, so I added 1/2 chopped bell pepper for some crunch.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
I was not as impressed as I thought I was going to be with this recipe based on the great reviews it has received. I don't think I will be making it again. The flavor was just ok. I marinated the veggies and meat overnite. I'm not sure what it was about the flavor that I didn't really like, perhaps the applecider vinegar. It was a bit too tart/bitter/sour for my liking. Nevertheless, I do like the idea of wrapping chicken in bacon and then grilling. I think I may try that again with a different marinade. Lastly, great idea to boil the bacon for a few minutes first before putting it on the scewers.

Barbequed Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
I used this recipe and added garlic as some reviews suggested. It turned out pretty well. I only had time to marinate the flank steak for 6 hours. I think next time I will only use this marinade if I have time to marinate it longer. I also used it to marinate veggies (zucchini, red onion, mushroom, and bell pepper). Then I skewered and grilled the veggies. They turned out great. I think I liked the marinade better on the veggies than the steak.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
I was a little disappointed. I made these yesterday for a bbq. After having them in the over for 30 min at 350, the center was still raw and the edges were already starting to turn brown. So I turned the oven down to 320 and kept them in for 10 min. longer. After letting them cool, I cut into them. The edge pieces were dry and the middle was still somewhat uncooked. So I can only serve the perimeter pieces at the bbq. Not sure what Ill do with the not-quite-cooked center pieces. I probably want try these again...I think I would just make peanut butter cookies instead. Also, I added 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, which I would recommend if someone else tries these.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
I followed the recipe and they were good but I didnt think they were great. I did receive compliments on them but I thought they were a tad boring. Perhaps next time I will jazz them up by adding blueberries or dried cranberries. Also, in addition to the lemon juice and peel, I may add a bit of lemon extract.

Grilled Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2009
I made quite a few changes based on other reviewers. I added brown sugar and water to the peanut sauce and that made it taste better and made it a better consistency. Also, since people said that the peanut sauce burnt or dripped off during grilling, I just seasonded the chicken with garlic, salt, pepper, and curry. I used the peanut sauce as a dipping sauce after the chicken was grilled, which worked well. I paired this with the Thai Cucumber Salad - nice match.
