Pumpkin Pie Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
This recipe is fantastic!!!! And easy! And forgiving. I'm never making any other kind of pumpkin pie again. After reading the reviews, I was afraid there wouldn't be enough crust to cover the bottom, so I simply added 1/2 cup flour. With that change, I had enough crust. Second, I did not have evaporated milk, so I just used what I had on hand: milk and a few tablespoons of half and half. I'm going to try using plain milk next time. FYI it took 40 minutes in the oven for my filling to set. I also cooled it thoroughly in the fridge after cooling it on the counter. SO YUMMY.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
These are delicious. They are time-consuming, but easy to prepare. The crumb of the dough is right on. However, I have one CAUTION: If you do use a 9X13 inch pan, make sure it is at least a couple of inches deep. Otherwise, all that delicious buttery caramel will be burned to the bottom of your oven, creating awesome amounts of blue smoke and a gross cleaning situation.

Apple Bacon Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2009
This is pretty yummy. I added a couple of tablespoons of brown sugar to balance the acidity of the canned tomatoes. It's one of those dishes that, once you start, will leave you returning for "just one more spoonful." I will be adding this to my regular household menu.

Candy Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
These are very good. They made an ordinary spinach salad to die for. I brought the extra to my parents' house for New Years, and everyone loved them. My only cautionary note: make sure you remove them from the pan if you are using wax paper and let them cool on something else. Otherwise, there will be small, hard to remove wax paper pieces stuck to the pecans. Next time, I'll try my Silpat.

Bagels I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
The minor differences: I only used 1 tbsp sugar to bloom the yeast, I used cooking oil instead of margarine, and my oven takes longer to bake them. Otherwise, I have followed the recipe exactly several times, and these always turn out yummy. Protip: make sure you are putting the bagels somewhere warm when you take them out of the boiling water. I had two bagels deflate because they were in a draft.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
These are decently tasty. They're more muffin tops than cookies, though. They also have a slight baking soda flavor, so I recommend cutting the baking soda a little bit.

Homemade Bagels

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
These were a yummy baked good, but mine did not turn out very bagel-y. I followed the recipe (doubled), but my bagels floated right away instead of sinking. In the end, they were not as dense and chewy as I would have liked. They were also too buttery and sweet.
