Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2011
We love these....I can never buy canned refried beans again, and my husband wants these to always be in the fridge. I have made some changes to better suit our personal tastes, but would still rate this 5 stars based on the basic recipe.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: May 14, 2007
I love using this recipe and method. Usually I change the recipe some and make a beautiful bearnaise sauce. That is what I prefer on my steak oscar. Sometimes I leave in the dijon for a different take on bearnaise.

Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
My husband loves this, I make it for him all of the time. A great money saver. I also mix in pumpkin spices sometimes for a great pumpkin chai.

Rhubarb Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
Yummy! I was afraid that these would lose the tartness of rhubarb, but they worked out beautifully. I didn't have vanilla yogurt, so I used plain yogurt with vanilla extract which was perfect.

Slow Cooker Hoppin' John Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2004
I've changed the recipe a bit in that I don't cook the rice first, I use hot italian sausage instead of ground sirloin, and instead of diced tomatoes with green chiles I use diced tomatoes with jalepenos, plus sometimes some more for good measure. Way to spicey for me (heat can easily be regulated), but my husband loves it. I make up a big batch and freeze into meal size portions for him to take for lunch. Healthier and cheaper than a meal out! Thanks!

Easy Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2003
This is awesome. I used a can of diced tomatoes with jalepenos, and an additional can of mexican style stewed tomatoes, and my husband just loves it. Although it isn't even close for ingredients the taste reminds me of a favored soup I have in Mexico.

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2001
It is really easy to make, and looks quite beautiful, but I think it could use a little more peppermint flavor. Maybe because I used candy canes?

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2001
This was sooo easy, and my husband loved it! Instead of salsa I used a can of "S&W redi-cut tomatoes with jalapenos and mexican seasonings", and it was incredible. Will be making it for family next week.

Apple Dumplings I

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2001
These are truly awesome. You would think they would be soggy, but I turned them over halfway through cooking as recommended and they were perfectly browned. I loved the way the biscuits absorbed the sauce!
