My First Roses
About this Cook
I was a cook in the military for four years. Now I am a police officer and a baker on the side. I love baking cakes and desserts and decorating them!
My favorite things to cook
Cake, Cake Pops, Cookies, Sweet Breads, Homemade pizza, Quiche,Chicken and Dumplings, Chicken Paprikash.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving a Christmas desserts. We always have sweet potato casserole and green been casserole on the holidays. I have a few recipes that I love to make that my family has been making forever such as Chicken Paprikash and my grandmother's chicken soup.
My cooking triumphs
My cakes are my biggest triumphs. Cake Pops are my latest success! I also love finding or making up a good homemade recipe! My latest cooking triumph was coming up with a recipe for southwestern quiche. Yum!
My cooking tragedies
Well my last two tragedies involved forgetting about the vegetables. I forgot I was steaming broccoli once and turned it a lovely grey color. And last time I forgot the asparagus in the broiler and basically dehydrated it. LOL

Banana Sour Cream Bread
WOW! This is the best banana bread recipe I have ever tried! Everyone that tried it wanted a copy of the recipe. The sour cream and putting cinnamon/sugar in the pan prior to baking were wonderful improvements! I wouldn't change a thing.

Cheeseburger Soup I
I am giving it a 3 because of the soups blandness. I tasted it before adjusting it and it had no flavor. I added to taste: sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce. Once I added a lot of those ingredients the soup was great and would be a 4 star rating.

Slow Cooker Enchiladas
I have made this twice for my family and they ate it up! I added black olives to all of the layers and ate it with sour cream on top. This is a great recipe and there is plenty of room to experiment with ingredients depending on preferences. : ) Yummy!
