i made hamburgers last night - and wanted to make them special

first item - angus beef
i have a cast iron grill that i put in the oven - heated it well
less hassel then lighting then standing outside in the VA heat of a real bar-b-que
but i get the char marks and the flavor

then i had found some chiptole cheddar cheese - if you like spicy this is the new go to cheese
and laid out the rest of hamburger fixing

toasted some buns - poured some sam adams lager and life was good for a weeknight

bf has had some crazy duties so we are taking it easy all of this week

friday night Fort "RAWKIN" Lee, VA (where we both work) is having a free concert - Casper (think Earth, Wind, and Fire) add friends and a couple of drinks and life is goooooood

I crack up every time I see your profile pic, although I think you have photoshopped your kitty. Your burgers sound good. I'm thinking about doing burgers tonight!

Hi! We just recently bought a cast iron grill pan...did you use it in the oven or on the stove top? I have only tried the stove top and was not happy with results but would love to make some burgers on it- yours sounds tasty!

barbara - i use mine in the over - but don't forget to get one of those throw away over liners first (i didn't and got to clean the over for it) i spray mine down with a good spray - then place it in the oven at a very high heat - for 10 minutes before i put the meat on it - seals the meat and gives great grill marks cleaning it afterwards can be a drag but steelwool and i are old friends i then dry it and spray it again with pam

sweet jam yes the kitty photo is photoshopped - a good friend sent it to me once when i was so home sick i was crying on the phone - it really is my good luck pic - it has been my screensaver and i have used it at the bottom of my official government signature i know it's silly but this left coast girl living on the right coast has to maintain my roots have a great day dear

Barbara - I love my cast iron grill pan! Even though it came pre-seasoned it still does take a while to become non-stick. Be patient with it and grease liberally, as with all new cast iron. I use it on top of the stove. Make sure you get it hot enough to get good char and flavor. Burgers, steaks and kabobs are great on it. If I'm doing something like a steak that is somewhat thick I'll start it on top of the stove and finish it in the oven. 2spy - Those burgers sound great!
