My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas morning breakfast! It's a tradition! Grilling everything all summer.
My cooking triumphs
Trying new recipes when I have people coming over and knocking it out of the park! Nearly every time I've tried to make a good alcoholic smoothie, I've made something amazing. Soda cupcakes.
My cooking tragedies
Making a cake that tasted like eggs. Giving my husband specific instructions on what to make for dinner while I was at work, and coming home to a tragedy.

Mom's Sushi Rice
I was looking for something to make with hawaiian pulled pork and found this recipe. It's amazing! I didn't have sushi rice, so I made it with another short grain starchy rice and it turned out perfectly. I also didn't make it with the konbu, but it turned out just like the sticky rice I've had in so many hawaiian restaurants. Thanks for the great recipe!

Vegan Pancakes
I made these yesterday for breakfast and they were amazing! I realized I didn't have eggs after I had already promised pancakes to the family. I made them with fat free milk, and I substituted 1/2 cup of all purpose flower with whole wheat flower. And just to try it out I added cinnamon, nutmeg, Ginger, and cardamom. They turned out fantastic! A great base recipe for egg free pancakes!

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns
I just made these and they're alright. I did what other reviewers suggested and didn't melt the butter for the inside of the rolls, but did for the caramel sauce and they wound up being soggy on the bottom and crunchy on the top. Next time I won't melt any of the butter and hopefully they turn out better. Still delicious, just the wrong texture. Also, I'm contemplating making these in the style of cinnamon rolls.
