Squash Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
I always liked squash casseroles with cheese so I varied slightly from the original recipe. Used zucchini instead as that is what I had on hand. Zucchini was sliced thin and boiled for 5 mins, then sauteed in the butter with onions and carrots for 5 mins. Never mashed. Then added soup, sour cream and mixture of cheddar and mozzarella cheese (about 3/4 c each). Layered in dish as directed and baked. Turned out excellent!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Very easy and not too strong gingerbread flavor, which we like. I made these just into circles and will drizzle icing on top. Next time plan to top with natural sugar before baking to add a little something.

Italian Wedding Cookies III

Delicious! First time I have ever made these cookies and they are a hit. Must make with almonds, I think it gives a lighter texture and taste.

Rum or Bourbon Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Pretty good, just could use a little more rum. Chocolate also clumped when adding in liquids, seemed like there was probably a better way to go about that step. Grind cookies in processor so that they are very fine, otherwise chocolate will fall apart when rolling if you have clumps of cookie. I like this mixture better then others I have tried so far. Will try with bourbon next time.

Festive Shortbread Logs

Very good shortbread recipe. Can be difficult to roll log shapes. Do spread a little on pan. Love end result, decorated with chocolate and sprinkles

This was pretty good. I liked how the gravy mix helped to thicken the tomatoes/sauce.

Cheesy Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2011
Excellent! Cooked a few strips of bacon, then cooked veggies in bacon grease. My husband, who says he hates squash, ate the hole 1/2 before even touching his beef!!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
This was pretty good. Definitely can't cook longer then 6-7 hours, it would be too long. We used a Sweet baby rays (honey) bbq and chunk pineapple. Because of the sweet bbq sauce, I added a hot pepper with the other peppers and a dash of red pepper flakes to even it out. Our sauce was a good consistancy, as we used a whole bottle bbq, small can of pineapple for 3 chicken breasts. Served with rice. Will make again!

Chicken Suiza Cornbread Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
Very very good, even husband agreed. We will make again. Left out the mushrooms (dont like), used real egg and added cream of chicken soup. It really does help the sour cream from curdling. I cut the recipe in half and still have 1/2 leftover after 2 portions. Yummy!!

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 19, 2011
This was very good. The pork chops were moist and sauce had a good flavor. I ended up sauteing the onions and garlic, then just leaving it in the pan while the pork chops cooked. Will make again.

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
I gave this 5 stars, but as an altered recipe as others did. I made the steaks same as the recipe. On the sauce, I sauted fresh mushrooms and onions. Then I added 1 1/2 cup milk and 1 1/2 cup beef broth, and a can of cream of mushroom soup and a little Worcestershire sauce. Excellent with the changes. I don't like boullion, which is the main reason for the change.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
This was good, but only gave 4 stars because I tweaked it a little based on reviews. I cooked the chicken in butter, a garlic/herb mix (no italian available) and chicken stock for 4 hours. Then added in 4 oz cream cheese and 6 oz sour cream. The result was creamy goodness! served over butter and herb rice a roni. Just felt like it could use some veggies, but that is personal preference. Will add peas next time.

Berry Shortbread Dreams

Very, very good recipe. Made last year with original recipe and was loved by all. This year I used vanilla instead of almond extract, and sprinkled with confectioners sugar instead of the glaze. It is just as great!

Cherry Snowballs

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
I doubled the recipe and came out with about 60 pretty good sized cookies. I made 1/2 with the coconut topping and 1/2 dipped in sugar/milk/cherry juice mixture; for those who don't like coconut. Very good and not too sweet.

Mini Candy Bar Cookies

These were so easy and are really good. Don't let sit on the cookie sheet too long as the bottoms will get dark. Tried with milky way candies as well for those allergic to nuts.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
These choc chip cookies are definitely one of the best. I couldn't believe just the little differences make such a change in the cookie. slightly chewy in the middle and crispy on the edges. Take them off the pans immediately when coming out of the oven to keep from flattening.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Made some slight changes which I think did this wonders! I am guessing the original is just as good, but I loved it the way I made it so hard to go back. Changed the cheddar cheese to Velveeta and put panko bread crumbs on top because I didn't have corn flakes. Wonderful, will make again!!!
