Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
Great cornbread recipe. Perfect consistency with just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing I did different was fix and bake it in my cast iron skillet. We had it with Jerre's Black Bean abd Pork Tenderloin Slowcooker Chili (also great), but it would certainly work wonderfully with many other meals. Thanks Bethany!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
You just can't go wrong with all that sugar and butter! I use this as the base for most of my white cookies. My husband loves the raw dough! I usually add 1 c. chocolate chips and 1 c. M&M baking pieces. I also omit the nuts. This is by far our favorite cookie recipe! Thanks Dora!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

The kids love this one. We use boneless, skinless breasts and drumsticks. Very sticky, but very good. Make the house smell delicious.

Poor Man's Caviar

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
Love this! So easy. I've made this for snacking at home and I recently made it for a party at work. It gets rave reviews and everyone was curious about what it was and how it was made. I love that! Thanks for the great recipe!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
The reviews were defintely spot-on for this recipe! I used precut thin, scallopini-stlye chicken breasts so we had 8 servings instead of 6, so I just increased all of the other ingredients. I added grated parmesan, garlic powder, and onion powder to the flour. I had Chardonnay on hand, so I used that for the sauce, which we thought was excellent. Probably not good for you, but it made the dish!! This is the best chicken cordon bleu recipe I've found to date!

White Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I must admit I was little concerned when I was mixing this up...it just doesn't look like your average cookie dough. However, the finished product was spectacular! My husband could not stop nibbling on them! This time around, we added M&M baking pieces for color in addition to the white chips. Next time, we'll probably add peanut butter chips based on some of the other reviews. Overall excellent cookies...so different from the norm!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
We love this recipe. It could not be easier! So far I have only used fresh chicken breasts, but I can't wait to try it with frozen too. I use Montgomery Inn BBQ sauce (Kroger sells it) because it reminds me of home! Yummy!

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
We thought these were great. Loved the homemade BBQ sauce. Adjusted this for 8 servings (I had 5 one pound slabs of ribs) and had plenty of sauce for grilling and serving. Even my very picky 4 year old loved it! Thanks!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Very easy to make. We did not add the raisins, but did add in some mini chocolate chips. My husband and 3 and 1 year old girls loved them. In fact my youngest daughter kept going back to the container asking for "mo". Thanks for the great recipe...we will definitely be making more!

Our family likes this a lot. The more carmalized onions the better! This is great with a variety of main dishes. I love that it is heart healthy too! Thanks!

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
We had this tonight and it was YUMMY! Made the same changes as other reviewers: added sausage, thinned soup with milk and a little sour cream, added some tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Loved the twist provided by the soup. This one is a keeper! Thanks LaDonna!

Sesame Seared Tuna

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
I also let the steaks marinate in the sauce before cooking. Doubled the sauce too. We prefer ours very rare, so about 20 seconds per side on High was good enough. Hubby said it is his new favorite meal and it was better than Filet Mignon!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
My first and only veggie burger, and I am okay with never having another! These are great and soooo easy to make. I use panko breadcrumbs (and usually more than the recipes calls for) and Tiger Sauce (haven't found a chili sauce I like). Serve on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, onion, swiss cheese and a small amount of spicy mayo (I make my own with regular mayo + cayenne and garlic powder). Yummy and good for you too!

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
This is why I love this website! This is a recipe I never would have made based on the ingredients, but I search for recipes that have high ratings and this one came up during a search, so I thought...I'll give it a try. Wow! We had this last night and it was wonderful. I browned the pork tenderloin first (covered it with flour, garlic powder, black pepper - then browned in butter) before adding it to the slow cooker. The only other change I made was to add a can of Rotel diced tomatoes with green chiles. Totally awesome and so simple. Served with rice, a dollop of sour cream, and Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread from this site (also awesome). Thanks a bunch!

Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
I originally had the same problem as others with the overflowing cups. Also, I could never get the dough to "lay" quite right in the muffin cup - it kept shrinking up. After many variations on this recipe, now I just tear up the dough and place it in the cups - I can usually get 12 muffins or more out of this too. I use the refrigerated "wheat" dough and often sub ham and swiss. Overall, this recipe was a great start to a now weekly request in my house!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
We thought this was good, but was missing something (just can't quite put my finger on it). It was my first time making cheesecake, so maybe it was just me? I followed the recipe to the letter, so maybe next time I'll try it with the recommendations of other reviewers.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
We really like this dip. My only complaint is that sometimes the salsa and tomato part can get a little runny which makes too much liquid in the container = not good for presentation. Other than that, the taste is great.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2010
My husband and I both thought the balsamic vinegar was way too overpowering. Will not try this with an expensive cut of meat like this again.
