Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
The taste was wonderful. I think you need to cook the meatballs in the sauce to really get all the flavor. I would not use more than just enough EVO to cook the onions, I poured off some oil after cooking...the meat also has some fat. The house smelled amazing!

Rich Chocolate Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
mois t and chocolatey. I made mine in a 9x9 and the brownies were too thin. I reduced the baking time to 20min. I think I will make the following changes, double the recipe and bake in 9x13 leave out 1/2 cup sugar. add chocolate chips, m&m's or reeses pieces

These were fantastic..great flavor. I made them the morning of my dinner party and they sat in the fridge in their juice and were really flavorful. I used peeled baby carrots. Definitely a winner. and low in fat!

Joan's Famous Mondel Brodt

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Everyone loved these. I used pecans and craisins and then left some plain, dipped some ends in chocolate and then drizzled some with chocolate. My loaves took 5 minutes longer to bake...i had them a little closer than 3 inches, maybe that's why. The dough is a little dry and crumbly with the stuff in it so to make your loaves...place a ball of dough onto plastic wrap and wrap losely like a burrito ,,then roll it to log shape and remove plastic

Ham Fried Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
This was a great way to use up left over pork. I just cubed it. Changes i made were: cook rice in low sodium chicken broth, adjust spices up a little after tasting, add a cup of cooked peas for color and serve with French's crispy fried onions sprinkled on top

Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
This was a good easy breakfast casserole. Don't salt this because the soup is salty enough. I'm not a cheese person so I think I'd like to try this with more onion and less cheese....You could definitely add cubbed ham to make more of an entree.

jack daniels sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
This is a great sauce...just make sure you have time to make it because it takes a good 35-45 min. Also use real Black Label Jack Daniels...not a time for the cheap stuff. I served it on roast pork and it was delicious.

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
Great recipe..I make real from scratch cin rolls every year. This year I'm working and this was so much easier! I used butterscotch pudding as suggested and pecans instead of raisins. I used the bundt pan and the middle was too dough so I'll increase the time a little. I just drizzled some icing. Very good and easy recipe!

Pierogi Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
This was a great casserole tried at Christmas and then served for New Years dinner party with some changes Changes are: increase potatoes to 8, mix sauted onions and bacon into potatoes. I seasoned with McCormick Grill Mates, Montreal Steak seasoning and eliminated the garlic. Get you potatoes the way you like them before you assemble..lots of taste. Then i just layered with the cheddar cheese but used swiss on the top final layer...it looks nicer. I made this up the morning of the party and baked it that evening and it was great. Keep it covered the whole time.

The Best Ugly Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I thought the turkey was good, not outstanding..the breast meat close to the top was still a little dry..I think I'd stick some butter under the breast next time. It wasn't too ugly and I carved it in the kitchen anyway.

Applesauce Salad

You won't believe how good this is. I would make it the day before instead of day of since mine was a little loose. The kids ate it with whipped cream during the week! It was really good with the meat.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Everyone liked this. It was a great balance of savory and sweet...not overwhelming in sweetness like so many recipes I've tried. I knocked the sweetness down further by increasing the amount of sweet potato to 6-7 cups of cubed. I couldn't figure out how 4 cups would feed 12 people...not in my family anyway!
