I have been making this recipe forever so I thought , it's been a rainy, cool gotta have some tea and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies kinda day....so I'll share it with you.  I make up this large recipe, divide it into 4 rolls and freeze to use one a time.  Sometimes I make them into 8 rolls...not so many cookies baking at a time that I will eat!   We're getting ready for vacation , so I'll take these frozen rolls with me in the cooler and we'll have fresh baked cookies at the beach house!

CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES

2 CUPS BUTTER...i use unsalted
2 CUPS SUGAR
2 CUPS BROWN SUGAR...i use 1/1/2
4 eggs
2 tsp pure vanilla...don't use imitation
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsp Baking Soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 cups chocolate chips
5 cups old fashioned oats

*beat butter and sugars
*add eggs
*combine everything else except oats, add to wet ingred  and mix well.......i use my counter mixer because this is a lot of dough
*slowly add the oats until well combined

divide dough into 4 ....i plop each 4th onto a big pc of plastic wrap and roll it into a log....then put all 4 logs into a freezer zip lock

to bake....let defrost a little....slice 1/2 inch pcs and bake 375 for 10-12 min.

Enjoy!

Hi Argentina....how are the mountains? Still snowing? We are off to the beach with the whole family...my mom is even coming down from Canada! I've been cooking all day hoping to have a few meals ready so I don't spend all my time in the kitchen cooking for 9 people!

This looks like a great recipe and so handy to have in the freezer. One question, what do you mean by "I use 1/1/2" behind the brown sugar?

Cocojo means that she cuts the original recipe call for 2 cups of b/sugar but she uses 1 and 1/2 cups instead.

About Me
Loving life at 50ish. Kids are gone and I'm focusing on my career! I enjoyed running a chocolate truffle business for 3 years and now teach adults and children about chocolate. I also teach hands on cooking classes at a local cooking school and am writing my first cookbook! Please visit me at my blog www.allrecipes.com/cook/givethemfood
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything but particularly enjoy Italian. I have been studying Vegetarian and Vegan cooking for the last few years and love to make healthy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
from scratch cinnamon buns on Christmas morning...they take forever but Oh! so worth it!
My cooking triumphs
landing my dream job as a teaching chef.
My cooking tragedies
when I was teaching myself to cook way back in college, I made these wonderful oatmeal raisin cookies for my roomies....only problem was I forgot the flour! The cookies became one big mass that overflowed the cookie sheet and made a huge mess in the oven!
