GIVE THEM FOOD...and other ways to cope with life

Sometimes life is just hard.  In the midst of dealing with my Dad's situation, my beautiful 11 year old dog Fred lost his battle with cancer on Sunday.  Not a person but as many of you dog lovers know, he might as well have been.  He was a wonderful dog.  My husband wrote this today.

Fred in bed
Then he said
Feed me

Friendly eyes
Welcome bark
Love me

Bearish fur
Tapping feet
Stroke me

Want to play
Find my ball
Walk me

Mooshoo pork
Go in car

Treats again
I'm so hot
Shave me

Swimming now
Digging down
Cool me

Free cuddles
Endless licks
Wag me

Restless legs
Endless snores
Shake me

Get your ball
Hide your bone
Who me

Aw gee dad
Take me too
You're tired

Can't see guys
I'm so lost
Help me

Final ride
Dr. Kyle
So sad

Empty collar
Useless leach
Miss you

Went in peace
Sleeping now
Love you

Doggie heaven
Tuesie too
Thanks Lord

For some reason the word "Mooshoo pork" made him go nuts with excitement...we never figured that out.  Fred suddenly went blind on Sunday..something ruptured and this was why he needed to leave us.  He was not in pain.  He's with our other dog Tuesie now...she always drove him crazy.
We'll miss our beautiful boy.

Hopefully lighter days are ahead.  My continued thanks for all your wonderful and supportive comments on my blog.

Cocojo, so deeply sorry for your loss. Our German Shepherd, Buddy passed this past July from cancer at the age of 9. He had a few tumors that ruptured and they couldn't stop the bleeding. It has been, and still is very difficult. We are intense animal lovers, and this was like losing a family member. Time is what heals, although you'll never forget, you just accept. I have a few photos of him on my profile. Your family is in my thoughts & prayers along with dear Fred. Rest peacefully boy--Cyndi

Coco, you have had enough. Why oh why do these things all come at once? I'm so sorry for this loss, please keep the faith and know we are all with you in this very public struggle. ♥

oh Coco, what a tragic loss for you and your family right in the midst of this otherwise trying time. You have my heartfelt blessings. Your husband is obviously a dear, compassionate man to write such a lovely poem to commemorate your dear Fred. Love and peace to you and yours.

I'm in tears for you. Losing a beloved pet is losing a family member. Thank God he didn't suffer. ((cocojo))

I'm sorry to hear about Fred. I know for me a loss of one of my pets would be akin to the loss of a family member. Remember the funny moments/quirks!!

I lost my beautiful Maine Coon cat 2 years ago. She was nearing 17 yrs, had some problems but unknown then we unwittingly fed her the poisoned cat food from China. That was the end. She did suffer and we had to have her euthanized. I will always miss her..she was such a good girl..I sympathize with your loss.

Cocojo, So sorry to hear about the death of your precious dog! Golly gee...dark cloud has been hovering over you. Anyone who has ever had a pet to love and care for understands how sad it is to say good-bye to them. They become members of our familes;a very important part of our lives. Always faithful, loving us and asking so little in return. May the beautiful memories of the happy times you shared with Fred be a comfort as you adjust to your home without his presence. Rest in peace, Fred! Special thoughts and prayers continue for you and family. God bless! Mel

Sorry to hear about the loss of Fred. Loosing a faithful companion is hard. I've been through that many times and each time it is equally hard. Hold onto those warm memories. Time heals our wounds. Blessings to you and your family.

I also teach hands on cooking classes at a local cooking school and am writing my first cookbook! Please visit me at my blog
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything but particularly enjoy Italian. I have been studying Vegetarian and Vegan cooking for the last few years and love to make healthy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
from scratch cinnamon buns on Christmas morning...they take forever but Oh! so worth it!
My cooking triumphs
landing my dream job as a teaching chef.
My cooking tragedies
when I was teaching myself to cook way back in college, I made these wonderful oatmeal raisin cookies for my roomies....only problem was I forgot the flour! The cookies became one big mass that overflowed the cookie sheet and made a huge mess in the oven!
