DINNER AT 4PM, 5PM,6PM...MIDNIGHT

All you moms out there who have high school/college kids I'm sure know what I mean. Between school, work,sports, friends etc...we can rarely sit down and eat a meal together! People are coming and going and eating at all sorts of hours!
I've come up with this method that I only wish I had thought of earlier....I keep different colored lids on containers in the fridge and a white board on the outside of the fridge. Each week I try to keep the following catagories going:
-a hearty soup like bean
-a pasta dish with veggies
-a meat dish like swedish meatballs
-cooked chicken breast sliced
-strawberries cleaned and sliced
-ready to eat salad
I keep the fruit and vegs in containers made for salad and the entrees in glass dishes with lids
I list them on the white board showing the date it was made, the name of the dish and the lid color
This way I know what's in there, they know and don't eat expired food!
It's worked pretty well.....everybody can eat when they want to Usually I try and make things up the day I go grocery shopping.
