Over two years ago, while deep in the darkest part of menopause...I decided it was time to pull myself up and find ways to cope.  One of the best things I did was to start a lunch group for my friends, also in various stages of this wonderful part of life!  I love to cook, so Ladies Who Lunch was born.  We've been meeting, whining, rejoicing and most of all eating ever since.
I hope this blog will encourage, inform and help others to see how the amazing experience of cooking for friends can be just the therapy women need at this "interesting" time of life!

I'm right there with you! Wish I could come and lunch too. Good friends and good food always make my day brighter! Don't forget a good book to take you on an adventure when real life doen't allow the time to get away! Have fun at the next lunch and yes, it great therapy to cook for others, I do it all the time!

I so agree with a good book also. I just finished a Canadian novel called "A Single Event" by RL Prendergast. A good read...don't agree with his ultimate theology but a great reminder to enjoy the moment.

This can be a very trying time of life. I've always loved to read, but I'm doing more of it now-at least an hour every morning,& usually again at night when the sleep won't come. have been cooking for/with friends & AR has really helped. I read lots of the reviews & make sure to use my spices so things are realy tasty. The pot of beans I made this W/E is still getting requests for a repeat performance!

About Me
Loving life at 50ish. Kids are gone and I'm focusing on my career! I enjoyed running a chocolate truffle business for 3 years and now teach adults and children about chocolate. I also teach hands on cooking classes at a local cooking school and am writing my first cookbook! Please visit me at my blog www.allrecipes.com/cook/givethemfood
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything but particularly enjoy Italian. I have been studying Vegetarian and Vegan cooking for the last few years and love to make healthy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
from scratch cinnamon buns on Christmas morning...they take forever but Oh! so worth it!
My cooking triumphs
landing my dream job as a teaching chef.
My cooking tragedies
when I was teaching myself to cook way back in college, I made these wonderful oatmeal raisin cookies for my roomies....only problem was I forgot the flour! The cookies became one big mass that overflowed the cookie sheet and made a huge mess in the oven!
