About this Cook
I once ate an entire bag of Lays Baked Potato Chips for dinner. Of course, I had a good beer to go with it. Blue Heron Pale Ale. When my foodie husband came over to my place when we first started dating, he noticed I had no food in the fridge. But when he saw the Blue Heron, he knew I was a woman of good taste.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that is super simple and has ingredients I already have on hand. I want to get the basics right first, since I'm learning from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stack family Sugar Cookies (the cut-out kind). I'm pretty good at baking those.
My cooking triumphs
So far, I can do a reliable bean soup, meatloaf, and tilipia entree.
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm...rather not remind myself of those. ;)

Easy Lentil Feta Wraps
I absolutely LOVE this recipe! I like using the refrigerated lentils from Trader Joe's. It's quick, easy, and my son loves putting the toppings on himself. Fabulous!!

Baked Oatmeal Squares
I love this recipe as is, but when I learned about my son's food intolerances, I made some changes. I thought maybe others who shouldn't have cane sugar, eggs, or milk would like to know what I did. Here goes... For a DOUBLED recipe, I used: 1 whole, overripe banana (instead of 2 eggs), 1 cup sugar-free hemp milk, and 2T raw honey, 2T maple syrup, and 1T blackstrap molasses for the cane sugar. They came out a nice color and very moist, but not sweet at all. If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, I would poke holes in them after baking and drizzle additional maple syrup on them, maybe brushing it on (my husband's wonderful idea).

Hungarian Goulash II
I totally loved this recipe! I am brand new to cooking dinners. I even botched this up--by leaving it in the slow cooker too long--and it's not really botched at all! I just added a little bit of water to the over thickened sauce, and it was all set and ready to go. I'm so happy I found something even I can't mess up!!
