Hearty Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
Just took it out of the oven. The only changes I made was to add minced onion to the hamburger as it was cooking, minced garlic and dried basil to the meat sauce, 2 cups mozzarella to the top. I would have given this a 5 but the measurements were off a bit. Next time I will use 2lbs of hamburger and 2 cans of the sauce. {I prefer Hunts 4 cheese blend for sauce, not as sweet as the jar sauce. Tastes more authentic). And 4 cups of ricotta cheese.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This recipe is delicious. The only changes I made was omit the mushrooms, I didn't have any, and added sliced olives instead. It really doesn't taste like alfredo sauce but is definitely good. I will make this often.

Lemon Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
I really didn't care for this recipe. The sauce is way too sweet and not lemony enough. I doubled the amount of lemon juice and it helped a little. The bread pudding was not that great either. I will keep searching for the perfect recipe.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
This is a fabulous pie crust. I will use this recipe from now on. The only problem I had was on my pre-baked crust, I did not use any tricks and it slid down the pan. But it tasted awesome. The Pumpkin Pie crust came out fine though. Nice and flaky. By the way i used butter.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I love this stuffing! It is fabulous. I will share this recipe with everyone I know. My boyfriend also loved it and he usually smothers his stuffing in gravy just to be able to eat it. He said its the best he has ever had, (with no gravy)! The only change I made was to use quite a bit more liquid as I like my stuffing very moist and I did not use bullion, instead i simmered some of the herbs from the recipe in chicken broth and used a 1/2 cup of that along with broth from my turkey. It was wonderful!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
OMG this is absolutely, hands down the best pumpkin pie i have ever made or eaten. I cant tell you the difference in using real pumpkin. I followed another reviewers advice and cooked my sugar pumpkin in the microwave. It cooks much faster. I used a butter flake crust also. So fattening but so yummy. I will share this recipe with everyone I know. Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous pie!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
I made this with leftover turkey from thanksgiving. I didn't have fresh or frozen veggies so I added 1 can of corn and peas. I boiled cubed potatoes in the broth I had frozen from my turkey. to make the gravy I also used the broth from my turkey, (which I cooked with fresh herbs so the flavor was spectacular. I tripled the gravy as I like my pies very moist. I baked in a butter flake crust and it was awesome!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
I will always use this recipe for turkey from now on! I rubbed salt and sage in the cavity of my turkey then stuffed it with sweet onion, lemon, orange, fresh rosemary, sage, and thyme. I used 1 full cube of butter under the skin of the breast and thighs. I poured a very large can of chicken broth over the turkey. It came out stupendous!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This cake was just ok for me. I loved the flavor but the cake itself is just too dense. I will continue to use the recipe on the Hershey's cocoa can for my chocolate fix.

Chicken Paprikash

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I doctored the sauce by adding garlic and I used chicken broth instead of water. i doubled the sauce also. I wish I would have added some herbs to the dumplings, they were very bland, (I did add onion salt to them instead of regular salt), to the point i did not like them. I also sprinkled seasoning salt, pepper and paprika to the chicken before cooking. I made noodles to serve with instead. The sauce is yummy but only gave 3 stars because i changed so much.

Apricot and Peach Fried Pies

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
I made these tonight and they are really good. I modified the recipe slightly. There are only two of us so I cut the recipe in half. I cut the apricots into 4 pieces before cooking and I also added 1/2 teaspoon of allspice. A good way to ensure your pies don't open while cooking is to moisten the inner edges with water before folding. Fold so the top edge is just slightly shy of the bottom edge fold bottom edge over top edge and use tines of fork moistened in cold water to seal. After cooking lay on wire rack above paper towels till drained. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving/storing.

Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
This is really good. The only changes I made were, I added 1 can of beef broth with the water and bouillon, and increased the corn starch to 3 tbls. This made a lot more gravy which we love. I also omitted the ginger. I only used 1/2 an onion and I used 1/2 of a green pepper, 1/2 an orange pepper and 1 whole red pepper.

Easy Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
I haven't tasted this yet but gave it 5 stars based on the ease of making. I made mine for a savory dish so i did add the salt and the sugar. I also added a teaspoon of garlic powder and half teaspoon of basil just to give it more flavor. I made a chicken pot pie and it smells heavenly. Will edit once I taste my dish.
