Normal Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
This sounded so good but didn't turn out that way. :( It was definitely easy but turned out tough & dry and the sauce only cooked in the bottom of the breasts.

Frozen Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2011
This is very easy and the kids love it, so it gets 5 stars! I poured it in popsicle containers and they love that there is real fruit in it. It is kind of sour for my tastes due to the orange juice and lemonade. Just personal preference though! Oh and I forgot to add the pineapple and it was still good! Might be even better with it.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
These are amazing! Definately not good for the diet but they taste very good. I only used 1/4 tsp nutmeg which was plenty. The bake time should be more like 10-15 minutes...at least in my oven! What a tasty little treat!

Spinach and Bacon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
This is a great idea. I was in a hurry and just used a can of alfredo sauce instead of the cream. I forgot to add the wine but it tasted ok - next time I will try the wine. I also added some paprika and garlic salt to the sauce. Since I was in a hurry, I boiled and cut up the chicken, microwaved the bacon and threw it all together with some mini-bowtie pasta and served the spinach on the side. It passed my picky kids & husband test!

Beer Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
Oooh this was SO good. Our Old Chicago restaurant closed down...but this pizza tastes like it's back in business! I used pizza crust packets and they best fit in a 9" round cake pan each. I let the dough rest in the middle of the pan and then pressed the dough out and up the sides of the pan for a deep dish pizza. Our filling was minus the onions & peppers and plus black olives. It was still amazing! I used Bud Light Golden Wheat beer - wonderful! The cheese got REALLY brown...probably because the toppings were underneath instead of on top. I had pineapple pieces on one top of pizza and that cheese did not get as brown. Next time I will put the cheese on for the last 5-10 minutes. I'm eating the leftovers for lunch today and I can hardly wait!!!

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
These were easy to make, the dough was nice but they were a little bland and got kinda "goopy" when I boiled them. Make sure you roll them thin though...really thin! I will probably try these again but add a little salt.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
These turned out quite dry. I made these as mini-muffins...so maybe that was the issue. I may try them again using a bigger muffin tin. I used fresh blueberries that had been frozen (we eat them instead of popsicles) and that worked great.

Traditional Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
I don't usually like green peppers but this was great! Tasted just like Grandma used to make. I followed the advice of another reviewer and used Tomato Soup. I also added a little Mozzarella cheese between layers of the filling. My hubby thought the peppers could have been cooked longer...but that might be personal preference. This recipe made way more filling than 4 peppers could hold so I filled up a few cups of a muffin tin. This was perfect for the kids since they will not go near green peppers! :) Thanks!

Sophie's Shepherds Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
Oh so good! Didn't look like it would be but it was amazing! I would have started the meat before the potatoes though as it took longer. I also used beef since I had it on hand, corn instead of carrots, added a little extra worcestershire sauce and used the IKEA meatball gravy mix. The whole family was quiet while gobbling it down. The 2 yr old came back after dinner to clean her plate and the picky 5 yr old asked for more!

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Excellent! I love cinnamon ice cream and can't find it now that I moved away from my home town. It's fun to make home made ice cream, and this is now the only recipe I use to make any flavor of ice cream, just substitute for the cinnamon.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
These are SO tasty...it's probably sinful. At least at the rate I was eating them! I love that you can customize this recipe to whatever flavor you need. Definitely freeze the cake balls before you dip them - it worked beautifully.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
I LOVE German food. I'm very homesick and it reminds me of my Grandma's cooking. I'm not used to the nutmeg in this type of food though. It was good but next time I will probably leave out the nutmeg. This was quite easy to make even though it was my first time. At first I was thrown off by the "runny-ness" of the dough, but it worked fine. I used a flat, metal cheese grater to make the noodles. I just put a blob of the dough on the grater while held over the hot water and rubbed the back of a spoon in a circular motion to push the dough through the holes. I will definitely be making this again. It was quite quick for a "from scratch" recipe.

Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
This was good, quick and easy. I did have to mix up my own Dijon mustard because I didn't have any and that recipe turned out to be quite spicy but I don't think it hurt this recipe at all. It gets 5 stars because my extremely picky 4-year-old ate it with no coaxing or bribery!!

Easy Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
VERY easy and very good. I mixed a cube of chicken bouillon in the water before adding 2 cans of cream of chicken soup. Instead of ready made dough, I mixed up some Bisquick and milk (according to pkg directions). I also sprinkled a little cumin and nutmeg in before the dumplings. My VERY picky 4 year old held up his plate and said, "Look I ate it all up!" (I'm only giving 4 stars because I didn't try it exactly as written.)

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
This was amazing! All I had in the fridge was a turkey ham but we actually liked that better than a pork ham. Something in the flavor of the turkey is just wonderful when it mixes with the brown sugar. I also didn't cook it for 8 hours as my ham was really small and pre-cooked. About 2 hours was long enough.
