Sweet Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2013
I typically frown on reviews where people alter the recipe but so many folks said leave out the sugar so I did and now that I tasted it im glad. It's perfectly sweet without sugar and I can't imagine it any sweeter. Also a local grocery store has a similar salad in their deli which has hunks of cheese in theirs so I cubed some Munster and cheddar which is a nice addition. I feel like something is missing but not sure what. With some slight alterations this is quite good.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2013
Im making my 2nd pie now and keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't a runny mess this time. On my first attempt the pie was way too runny and the crust browned too quickly. This time I added an extra tablespoon of corn starch and a splash of lemon. I also reduced the oven to 375 and will keep baking it untilI i see it bubbling....it tasted fine but it was a disappointing mess. Hoping for the best now that I made some crucial adjustments.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
this is pretty yummy...I do however agree that you should cut back on the butter. I made it per the recipe but if I make it again I think I will use 1/2 the butter. I see some folks added extra filling which I don't agree with. There is plenty as is. I do however think adding a fruit layer or lemon curd on top of the cheese layer would be a yummy addition. This reminds me of a cheese danish.

Spinach Lasagna III

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
Followed recipe exact with the exception of the mushrooms. It was fine but to be honest it totally tasted like a frozen meal.....I could have sworn it tasted like a Lean Cuisine frozen lunch. I'm surprised at all the rave reviews. I won't be making this one again.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
So many positive reviews on this so I was excited to try it and what a bummer. It tasted like a barbeque sauce....and a weak sauce at that. I think a store bought sauce would have been better. I won't make this again.

Never Fail Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
I selected this recipe only because it looked simple and I had all ingredients on hand. I just wanted something quick to make in the morning to use for a breakfast sandwich. They were easy and turned out great but the flavor was just a little too bland. I think they would be great for biscuits and gravy but as a stand alone biscuit I prefer more flakey and light consistency. Not bad....but not great.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2013
made this and it was fine...but I think you really need to keep the oven on really low instead of off....my roast was a bit too rare and the meat wasn't hot enough to serve. Some folks claimed it was their ovens but my oven is new and higher end. Also I added lots of extra seasoning.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
YUMMY YUMMY! I was a lil worried about making this after reading some of the reviews saying there was not enough filling but decided to just try it and followed the recipe exactly and it was perfect....and actually I have a 10 inch pie pan and it was fine. I'm guessing some folks didn't whip the eggs in long enough because mine whipped up just fine in my kitchenaid stand mixer with the whip attachment. I let each egg whip the 5 full min each and had no issues. Also some folks thought it was gritty but I didn't have that issue either. DELISH!!!

Easter Breakfast Casserole

Ehhhh....this tastes fine but it took WAY WAY too long to cook. I think a quiche tastes pretty much the same and would cook in at least half the time. I won't be making again.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
VERY GOOD. I don't have a bread machine so I used a mixer. Based on other reviews I let the dough rise for about an hour and I made the 8 bagels instead of 9 but I think if I made only 6 they would be a better size. They really turned out very good and I will probably make them again soon.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
YUM! I added onions and carrots and when I cooked my chicken I had seasoned it with Weber Kick'n Chicken seasoning so I guess I did make some slight alterations but not by much. Very creamy and tasty....and very easy but nobody will know by the taste.

ehhh.... I followed this recipe exact and ended up having to doctor it up some... Not too much flavoring and way too thin. Not sure if I will use this recipe again.

Shrimp and Asparagus

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
This was pretty tasty... I was looking for a recipe to make where I had all the ingrediants in the house and this one was perfect. I read some of the reviews and decided to go ahead and cut back on the butter & oil which I think was a good move... I also read that someone had added crushed red pepper and since I like a "kick" I decided to do that too. I also added a little chopped red onion and a dash of cajun salt. This was pretty good and I will probably make it again but I am really glad I made the adjustments I did otherwise I think it would have been a bit oily and bland.

Cheesy Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
GOSH DARN' IT! I saw this recipe and got excited because it sounds like it might taste like the potato salad from my favorite hamburger place.... I was so sure it would be AWESOME that I doubled the recipe to bring to a big after wedding party for my nephew tomorrow.....And it is WAY TOO SWEET! I always read the reviews when I pick a recipe but I found this recipe a few months back and saved it and so if I had read the reviews I dont remember.... But most everyone is leaving out the sugar and I am wishing I did too. Ahhh well.... Hopefully someone at the party really likes too sweet potato salad.... Other than the dreaded sugar I think it would be terrific.

Easy Bacon and Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
I dont know how fair my review is because I was looking for just a basic quiche recipe for a bridal brunch I was having so I did not follow this recipe exact. I picked this recipe because I thought it looked pretty simple and I could easily alter the various veggies and cheeses. I ended up making 5 different quiches using this basic recipe and slightly different fillings in each (Spinach, mushrooms, bacon and other stuff) and they all turned out great. I had added tons of fillings so I was a little bit worried when I saw how much cheese was in the recipe but they were all great and VERY PRETTY (Sorry no photos). This will be my standard recipe from now.

Smoky Four Cheese Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
This was pretty good but just a little bit dry and I even added a lil' extra milk. I'm thinking that maybe using less flour might help. I also added in some crumbled bacon and sliced green onions. If I make this again I think I might change up the cheeses next time and use less flour.
