Cherry Almond Smoothie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2014
Good, but I would like more cherry flavor and less orange.

My cookies were flat despite using self rising flour and a teaspoon of baking soda. But they were delicious none the less.

Raspberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
Clearly I must have done something wrong, because these were terrible. I followed the recipe except I did not have lemon extract. The batter was way, way, WAY too thick. Then after baking, the muffins stuck like glue to the liners.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
Don't get me wrong, these were really good but, they turned out more cake like for me. The recipe makes a lot of batter, and I cut 1cup of sugar because it was really sweet with just 2 cups. Other brownie recipes call for minimal mixing, maybe that's why these were more cake like? None the less, if you need a chocolate fix, these will do it.

Adult Cherry Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2014
Oh wow! Super tasty and I feel good about myself when eating this. I didn't have any cherries on hand so I used a small jar of cherry jam that wouldn't be missed and thus omitted the sugar. I also apparently thought that coffee creamer and half and half were the same thing...actually not so, but I used vanilla flavored creamer anyway and it turned out well. A little more icy in texture than if I had used more fat, but I feel better about eating it this way. I recommend adding some sort of vanilla flavor to this. The Greek yogurt I used made the texture creamy after the initial icy-ness. Thanks!

Lentils with Chorizo

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
Even my picky husband took seconds of this dish. He doesn't like soup, so I made it much much thicker. I drained the lentils, but not before I used a little of that juice to purée the veggies. since I made it so thick, it would have been good on top of something else fresh tasting, but I don't know what. It was a great earthy taste followed by a bit of spice from the chorizo I used.

Wow! I don't like cooked green beans, but this was good! I used balsamic vinegar based on preference. It was a fresh flavor that went well with my pork loin.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
Very very sweet and rich, but isn't that how pecan pie is supposed to taste? Yep. Lots of compliments, but everyone ate it slow and only had one slice each. Maybe pair it with something to mellow out the sweetness?

Wassail Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
A citrus twist on warm spiced apple cider. Easily modifiable based on preference. Could lend a tropical flare to the holiday season with a little pineapple juice. Be carefully of the acidic content of citrus to already acidic cider.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Apples, Golden Raisins, and Walnuts

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2013
This was a great recipe and I don't like Brussel sprouts! I altered it just a bit to suit my taste. I tossed the veggies in bacon grease and olive oil before baking. Near the end of cooking I added the apples as suggested by another reviewer and crumbled bacon. What doesn't taste good with bacon? Topped with pecans, forgot the raisins, and didn't have the wine. Turned out pretty good, but I bet the raisins and wine would have been tasty too.

Tropical Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2013
This was amazing! I didn't have soy sauce or pineapple, but used two mango, and a bit of worstishire sauce. i also cut the sugar in half, but it could be omitted as i thought it was sweet enough with the fruit. cooked the pork in the marinade. I then used this as the protein and the dressing on my salad. Wow, so good!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
This did not turn out for me in a 9x9 pan. It was too thick and as a result I ended up with very crunchy hard overdone edges and a very gooey underdone middle. I think it would have turned out much better in a larger pan. They were tasty though so I'll probably give them another shot.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2011
This wasn't bad, it just didn't "wow" me at all. I used extra garlic, white pepper, added mozzarella, and reduced the tomatoes in white wine with a chicken bouillon cube for extra flavor. I'm sure this hits the spot for home cooking for some, unfortunately it didn't for me.
