Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

I doubled the recipe to 16 servings, served 7 people just enough leftovers to maybe feed 3. It's delicious!!! I would recommend just making a lot more because everyone seems to eat so much of it. I feel so proud that I made it. I did change it up just a little after reading other suggestions. Instead of only using tomato sauce, I used some chopped/stewed tomatoes because I wanted some texture and I used more chopped onion than they said. I also used fresh garlic and added 1/2 the amount of salt. I added about 1/3 cup of beer (keep in mind I had a double recipe) and about a tablespoon or two of brown sugar. Topped it with medium chedder, but I actually think it was better without the distraction of cheese on top. Served with cornbread with butter and honey.

Hungarian Goulash I

I was excited about this recipe but I tasted it and thought it was ok, but I was lacking flavor so I added some red wine and upped the tomato paste to 1 1/2 times what they call for. Lso cut down the extra salt. Also chopped carrots and chopped cabbage the last 20 minutes, and added a packet of any beef stew mix and some ketchup. I also was making this for a serving of 12, so one packet of beef stew mix was plenty. Once the stew mix goes in it has a tendancy to burn, so very low heat and lots of stirring. This is now my signature dish for whenever I have to make a meal for a family in need and when I have guests over. Everyone always wants the recipe.

Corn Chowder

I substituted frozen super sweet white corn for the can of corn (still used the can of creamed corn), omitted the ham and mushrooms. It was delicious. I was really proud of myself for making something new. It was really easy and everyone loved it. I had to make a double batch the next day and gave some to a neighbor who asked for the recipe.
