Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
Have made it in a 9 x 13 for church, and just put a purchased, rich fudge icing on it that I added more chopped pecans to. The women thought it was to die for!!! Well, hello! Oops, forgot to say I also add 1 sort of rounded Tablespoon Instant Coffee granules to the warm water, and 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Butter & Nut flavoring. I really like to use a good purchased Fudge Cake recipe & Icing for this cake, too.

Greens 'n' Grapefruit Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
I don't have to make this salad to know it deserves 5 stars. Here in Tennessee my husband & I love this kind of salad, and use spinach a lot. I put mandarin oranges, pineapple, grapefruit, strawberries, mangoes, kiwi, avacados, red grapes, plums and anything else I have on hand at the time in a green salad that , also, has shredded carrots, celery, cabbage, kale, onion, cauliflower, broccoli, etc., but not all that at one time. Oh, yes, nuts. It must be ultra healthy!

Carrot Fruit Ring

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
I was going to add this recipe, but checked to see if it was already listed. Yep, it was. I love the consistency of this bread, the crust is lovely, and have made it many times using different fruit. This week I'll use coconut, dried mango, and pinepple--whatever I find in the dried fruit gorcery section. This bread is not sticky, so mails well, keeps well & freezes well. My Brother in California loves it! I don't like fruitcake, but this is wonderful! You'll need a large mixing bowl, the batter will be thick, and I cook it in 2 loaf pans!

Cherry Pie Filling

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
I like a little cinnamon in my cherry pie filling, too. I even put it in the canned fillings.

Angel Icing

Reviewed: May 11, 2010
This may be the "7 Minute" or "White Mountain" icing", and definitely does take at least 7 minutes to reach the consistency that's needed. It is WONDERFUL on a Devils Food cake, too. You may have problems making the icing if the humidity is high. It's like Devinity. It can be made using the brown sugar, chocolate, cherry, etc., flavors, so check recipe books or online sites. Old cookbooks are a good start.

Grandma's Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I haven't made this recipe, but ate it at a church supper tonight, and it's WONDERFUL. The cook told me this is one recipe that will not get soggy like those made with a homemade flour dough, so is just as good the next day. Too, she'd doubled or tripled the recipe for a packed pan larger than a 9 X 13. Each dumpling could be easily lifted from the pan, and they were so pretty & plump. Her husband mentioned to the ladies in the kitchen that all that was needed was a pint of ice cream! Yes, this is definitely a 5 STAR!

Polish Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
I'm rating this low due to the butter and shortening, plus the 5 eggs. It really is good, though, and if you don't have a health problem it's also lovely to look at. My husband really does like it, so it rates a 5 star in looks & taste.

Cherry Almond Coffeecake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Super recipe, quick to make & bake. Made the topping a little different using 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, a scant 1/2 t. of almond extract with the 2 T. of milk, then put it in a Ziploc, snipped one corner, and drizzling it was a "piece of cake". And, added a little more cherry pie filling. Can use the remaining for a small coffee cake. Oh, sprinkled a handfull of sliced almonds over it before drizzling. Might toast them next time. Purchased a Walmart shallow, non-stick roaster, 15 x 10 x ? which worked great, plus has metal handles--great for transporting. All the other ideas by those who have rated this recipe really helped me,too. Want to use other pie fillings for this great recipe.
