Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
Very good! Definitely take out after 8 minutes, or less! My only change was adding an additional 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Fairly easy recipe and I already had all the ingredients on hand. Hopefully my new next door neighbor will like them too!

Bacon Roll Ups II

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
Yummy! I used the Philadelphia cracker spreadable cream cheese pepper jack with jalapeno flavor. They were so good! I didn't even know that kind of cream cheese existed - I just happened upon it with the other cheeses, not with the regular cream cheese. Definitely adds that extra kick!

Karyn's Cream of Crab Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2008
Great recipe! I love how easy it is. I had been planning to make it for dinner last night but was running late at work, so my husband made it for us instead while I drove home. Even he thought it was easy. We did cut back the Old Bay to 1 TBSP based on the suggestions of other reviewers; however, I think more than that is needed. We each sprinkled a little extra into our bowl. We also added a dash of cayenne which we love! We used one 7.5 oz can of crab instead of fresh crab since we live in Mississippi and we are on a budget. I had leftovers for lunch the next day and it was even better! Update: I now add some worcesteshire sauce to give the soup a little more depth. I think it helps!

Cyndi's Shrimp Fajitas

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
As indicated by others, the marinade for the shrimp is great. However, I found the zucchini and corn mixture to be somewhat bland. I omitted the onions due to personal preference so this may have contributed to the lack of taste. In order to spice up the veggie mixture, I added some onion powder, garlic powder, salt and some soy sauce while cooking. It helped a good bit.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
This dip is great. Easy to throw together. I added some cooked chicken breast pieces to my dip. My husband would have never tried it without some meat! Also, I used cheddar/monterey jack cheese mix. Everything else was done as stated in the recipe. Turned out great. I will probably use more salsa next time.

Almond-Crusted Tilapia

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
This is a great recipe. Very easy to execute also. We loved the thick crust it got. I may use less almonds next time though because my husband thought it a little too nutty. Other than that, the recipe as written is great!

Sausage Gravy III

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
FANTASTIC! I was born, raised, and still live in MS, and I know what a good sausage gravy tastes like. THIS IS IT! Changes I made: bacon grease instead of margarine, only 3 cups of milk, and a little more than the required flour as mine didn't seem pasty with the amount as stated. The gravy thickened up very well - we like ours thick! Overall, the meal was very filling and probably very fattening, but it was great for a once in a while dinner or breakfast.

Cadillac Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
The Cadillac pimento & cheese was very good! The only thing I changed was to add over a half cup of extra cheese...it was a bit too creamy at first. Next time I think I may cut back just a bit on the mayo and use cheddar instead of velveeta. I liked the velveeta but I think the cheddar, as some other people have used, will create a great flavor. But the recipe as written is very good, just with more cheese! Thanks for sharing!

Sausage Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
I have been making pinwheels for years using this same concept. The only difference is that I use deli turkey or ham instead of sausage and I sprinkle with lots of cheddar cheese before rolling. They go great served with honey mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

Mini Ham And Cheese Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
I made these sandwiches this past weekend. My husband really loved them. They were very easy to make. I used the small frozen yeast rolls that come in a foil pan. I also was out of minced onion so I used a little onion powder instead. I am planning to make this weekend for a tailgate!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
I made these brownies because my husband is crazy about peanut butter. I am not as crazy about peanut butter, but we both really enjoyed the brownies and prefer to regular, chocolate brownies out of the box. We aren't fans of icing, so instead of adding chocolate frosting as some users suggested, I topped off my mixture with peanut butter and milk chocolate chips - this turned out well so I will definitely add again. Overall, very rich and yummy.

Sour Cream Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
My husband and I really enjoyed this dish. Sometimes we find casseroles to be bland without any specific taste. However, we were able to identify the flavors of the cream cheese, sour cream, and soups in each bite. The crackers added a nice texture. I made only a couple of modifications. First, I added a layer of cheddar cheese before topping off with crackers - crackers stayed very crisp. I also used alot more crackers on top than the recipe called for - I found my casserole wasn't really covered with the stated amount. Finally, I set my oven to broil for the last minute or two because the crackers weren't really "browning". With those tweaks, the dish was really yummy and comforting.
