About this Cook
I tend to express my love for someone by shoving food into their mouth. I love to cook; it somehow relaxes me, entertains me, and makes me feel very useful and purposeful like no other task can.
My favorite things to cook
I will try any recipe once. My favorite things are baked goods--they excite my soul like little else, they are my true passion. I also love experimenting with cultural foods: Mexican, Italian, and Chinese, just to name a few.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pretty much your typical traditions-- holiday meals, special occasions, but I think my favorite tradition is 4th of July when the whole family gets together for a huge barbeque. So fun!
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving Dinner...from scratch...for the whole family...all by myself...Triumph!
My cooking tragedies
I can't really think of one off the top of my head, so I guess this section is TBA.

Banana Sour Cream Bread
While I will try adding sour cream to my banana bread in the future, I won't be utilizing this recipe again. For me, there just was not enough banana flavor, instead there was a lot of sweetness from the amount of sugar. Additionally, the bread was more of a cake consistency rather than being dense like you would expect from a quick bread. I have my own recipe for banana that has never failed but decided to try this one to break out of my routine a little bit. Just wasn't for me...

Elizabeth Dole's Pecan Roll Cookies
I made these for my mom and I to enjoy...we love anything with a nut in them. I felt like the dough was a little flat, like something was missing, so the next time I make them I will try adding some almond extract in addition to the vanilla.

This recipe worked out flawlessly for me and it was my first time making caramels as well. I dipped them in chocolate and they held up great. It did take a while to reach 250F but well worth the wait. I well definitely be making these again.
