Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
I've made this a couple of times and it came out perfect this time. Moist on the inside and golden on the outside. I exchanged the water for half broth and half wine. Also added some other spices as suggested by others (salt, garlic salt, celery salt, pepper and poultry seasoning) Oh and rubbed outside with olive oil before salting.

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
I didn't use 5 cups of stock, only half of that and only 1/2 t of salt. I have had difficulty finding just a gravy recipe on this site, but this was exactly what I was looking for.

Luscious Turkey Bacon Refried Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
Used smoked bacon that our neighbor makes. Had to cook longer than stated to reduce fluid, next time I will add less chicken broth. Instead of using potato masher, I put the whole mixture in food processor. Flavor and texture excellant. Agree, may never buy canned beans again.

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2011
Perfect! Just as I remember as a kid. Boiled 2 minutes as suggested by others. Used no salt peanut butter (trying to use up). Even used skim milk because that's what we keep in the house. Was looking for something where I didn't have to turn on oven in the summer. Such simple ingredients with spectacular results.

Golden State Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
Made this multiple times & always comes out great. I use whole wheat flour and half the salt. I love eliminating processed foods and cooking from scratch. It's easier than I anticipated.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
Great! Love fresh cilantro. Added a cut up tomato. Too much dressing. Will cut oil & vinegar in half next time. Seemed like a lot of salt so cut to 2 1/2 t. There is so much flavor could probably put even less salt and be ok. Serves about 12.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
After using this web site for about 2 years, I believe this is my favorite recipe thus far. I used the suggestions for homemade glaze and mixed of homemade glaze with some left over jelly/jam flavors that the kids weren't eating. I didn't have the full amount of strawberries recommended but it still came out great and easy. Nice alternative to strawberry shortcake.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
Flavor is great. This was more of a side dish even though I had typed in main dish on search. I think it can easily be transformed by changing the ratios a little. Next time I will cut cornbread down by a third. I will also add more vegtables. I added small abount of carrots, mushrooms and zuchinni. Next time I will increase each to at least a cup. I used Sweet Cornbread Cake from this site. Instead of canned soup, I used cream soup base from this site.

Peanut Butter and Oat Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
Don't have a jelly roll pan (not even sure what it is) put in a 9 x 13 dish. Took longer to cook, about 10 extra minutes with temp turned up to 350. Tasted great. Recommend chocolate frosting instead of peanut butter.

Spring Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2009
I found this recipe one day when the grapes I bought at the market turned out to be too sour for the kids to eat and too expensive to throw out. The family was reluctant after seeing the ingredients, but were pleasantly surprised. What a wonderful way to get fresh and healthy vegtables and fruit into my family. I used two cups of green grapes instead of one each of the red and green. I also used low fat turkey bacon. Otherwise followed exactly.

Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
So glad to have something without "soup". Easy and great flavor. Made a double batch for my son and his college friends. Nothing left over. I used chicken instead of turkey. Boiled 4 chicken breasts in water and used water for broth.

Cherry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
My family definitely prefers this no egg no bake version. My mother has been making this for over 30 years and has come out perfect everytime. No changes. My teenage son loves it and has never found any cheesecake that beats it.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Should have read the reviews first. Not enough noodles for the amount of cheese sauce, and I like cheese, but they were already swimming in sauce and I only added half of cheese sauce.

Light Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
I used all wheat flour. They rose fine, did NOT need extra yeast, nor did it need extra flour as some have recommended. My issues were that the batch was too big for my bread maker first (my fault), and second the rolls turned out too dry. I think next time I will add 6 T of butter to mix and only 2 T brushed on top. Next time I will also skip the muffin tins and form balls on a cookie sheet as others have done.
