About this Cook
I love cooking, and although I have no desire to do it professionally, it's a wonderful hobby and very relaxing passtime. I also live on a farm and enjoy messing with my horses and various other animals.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking Mexican foods. My papaw is Filipino and before he left to return there, he taught me a few dishes from there which are quite enjoyable to make (and to eat I might add) as well. Also I have two younger siblings who, as most children do, love to eat, but hate to wait. So, I've become very adept at making quick, but still delicious meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love homemade (from scratch) foods. Although they tend to be a little less healthy, they are delicious! My mom's homemade chicken and dumplings are THE BEST...HANDS DOWN. I may add that recipe to the site, but seeing as it's a family recipe...I may not. I'm not sure yet.
My cooking triumphs
My parents have become a little leery when they see me in the kitchen because they know I love to experiment. My most recent experiment was a homemade wild blackberry and cherry cobbler. Wild blackberries grow like crazy on my farm, but I was too late to pick a good amount of them. With all of the ones I did have, I didn't have enough for my blackberry cobbler. So I added cherries when I came up short on was delicious!!!
My cooking tragedies
Four words... Strawberry cobbler equals fail! lol After my triumph with my blackberry and cherry cobbler, I thought I'd try more kinds of cobbler. Well, I have made a strawberry and rhubarb pie, which was wonderful, but I wondered how strawberries would taste alone in a cobbler...not too good. It was far too rich for my siblings, parents and I. Now, for those of you with a sweet tooth, you may like it, but we weren't big fans...even with the vanilla ice cream.

Greek Pizza with Spinach, Feta and Olives
Like most people, I questioned the mayo ingredient. I'm glad I didn't skip it! It made a FANTASTIC feta/garlic sauce for the pizza. This is easily the best spinach and feta pizza I've ever had. My 10 year old sister hates eating spinach, even she couldn't resist this dish. Having limited ingredients, I gave up both the onion and the tomato. The dish didn't suffer. It was still fantastic! It was easy to make and didn't have a long wait time. My younger siblings even helped me make it. This is a great dish for kids to help out with. They'll enjoy making it as much as they'll love eating it. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
