Spicy Indian Chicken and Mango Curry

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
It was very good, but a little sweeter than I usually like dinner to be. The curry was also a little bland at first, so I added a small amount more of the paste, then some Tiger Tiger curry that I had in the cupboard. Very good though. I will make it again.

Naan

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
The recipe is fantastic. It turned out even better than at my favorite Indian restaurant. Just be certain to only add the flour a little at a time. I only needed about 3 1/2 cups. I also didn't knead the garlic into the dough. I just put it in the melted butter and let it sit for awhile, then brushed it on. And for desert, I just brushed plain butter onto the naan, then sprinkled it with cinnamon and sugar right after I pulled it out of the oven. I don't have a grill, so I made it in the oven. I put a caste aluminum pan in the oven preheated it to 400 degrees, then followed all the cooking times according the recipe. I also didn't need to grease the pan at all. Enjoy!

Shrimp Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
The only thing I think it needed more of was shrimp and a little less soy sauce and no salt. Otherwise, it was great!

Grandma's Harvard Beets

I love this recipe. Just make sure you start it ahead of time because it is a little time consuming. But the vinegar adds just the right tang to beets.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
I hate cooking pork because I always let it dry out, but this recipe keeps everything moist. I made it exactly to recipe the first time, and the gravy was a little bland. The second time around, I added a little parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder to the gravy. I also omitted the water and added only a splash of the milk, which it doesn't really need. It thins out in the oven. Much better!

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
This recipe is exactly like the one my mom used to use. I like mine to have a little more tang, so I added a little more vinegar the second time around. I also don't use the celery seed because I don't have it on hand and it doesn't make any difference at all. Also, the recipe doesn't mention it, but red potatoes work the best for the recipe.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I love this recipe! The flavors are great and it's very simple to prepare. After making it several times, here are a few things that I would change (techniques mostly, not really to do with the flavors): 1) Mix the sour cream into the sauce while it's simmering. I don't like the taste of just sour cream as a layer. 2) Spread a small amount of sauce on the bottom of the pan to keep pasta from sticking. 3) Layer as follows: ziti, sauce, provolone, ziti, sauce mozzarella. 4) Forget the Parmesan. If you're like me, you don't use it that often and it just goes to waste. Why buy a whole package of Parmesan to use just 2 Tbsp?

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
This recipe is excellent and not too expensive to make. The last couple of times I made it, I added some water chestnuts and sprouts for a little extra umph, but the recipe is just fine without adding all of the extra stuff. By the way, I don't drink wine, so I don't have it on hand for such recipes. I just substituted for it with grape juice and it was still awesome. Maybe different than rice wine, but a great alternative for non-drinkers.

Cheesy Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I've made this a few times now and really loved it. I made it to recipe the first time and liked it, but the next time I made it with white rice, a little ground beef, and added a little extra cheese for a little more flavor. Not as healthy, but a little better in my opinion.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I gave it four stars because my husband really loved it. It seemed a little salty to me, however. This may have been because I used cooking wine. I would also recommend low-sodium broth. If it needs a little punch, just add the salt yourself.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
This recipe is a lot like the one my mom always made. I liked it a lot. The only things I would change though, would be to add about a half cup more of rice and water, and a lot more Worcestershire sauce. I would also add about a half cup more of cheese.

Avocado Feta Salsa

I really loved this recipe. When you're making it though, be certain not too accidentally add more of the vinegar than it says. It produces a lot of heat if you do.

The Best Unbaked Cherry Cheesecake Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This is great as no-bake cheesecake goes. I'm more of a NY girl, but this works in a hurry. Just be sure to add a little lemon juice. It's super sweet and you need the lemon to take some of the edge off.
