About this Cook
Married 40 years to a firefighter whose spoiled me over the years. Just retired early & can't wait to start visiting all those festivals we've been watching over the years. Mom to a wonderful daughter, Oma to the smartest/cutest grandbaby anyone could ask for, grandma to numerous furry babies. Have turned over the kitchen to hubby whose been doing the cooking at the firehouse; eventually taking over my duties. A task I am more than happy to pass over as he is one great cook but the holidays are still mine.
My favorite things to cook
Being of Austrian heritage, I make a mean Goulash and am known for my great Potato Pancakes. No matter how many I make there are never any leftovers. Also make great dumplings. My Asian salad is a "must bring" to all functions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving & Easter at our house with ALL the trimmings - EVERY year. That's what I get for being such a good cook. LOL
My cooking triumphs
I do make a mean Southern Carrot Cake; the real thing not with the babyfood!
My cooking tragedies
Hasenpfeffer - smelled SO good in the fridge but tasted terrible. Never made again! And let's not forget hubby's fried turkey with GENERIC oil - yuk!

Simple Turkey Chili
Expected more; guess pictures are not worth a thousand words. Had to add my own spices to make it suitable for our palates.

Country Apple Dumplings
These are beyond delicious!! Have made twice already! First try - used coke since that's all I had; still delicious! Second try - used Pie dough instead of Crescent Roll dough - not as good. Used Cherry Chocolate coke - good but I'll stick with the orig recipe! Thanks to whoever shared this origionally!
