Quick Creamy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
Very good soup. I followed the recipe but did not use the dill weed. I also followed another suggestion and used 1 can cream of chicken and 1 can of brocolli & cheese soup. Soup was hearty and filling. I don't think it will ever take the place of my traditional potato soup, but it was a nice change. I will definitly make again.

Finnish Meatballs (Lihapyorykoita)

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
I hate it when it appears I am the only one that doesn't like something, but I know taste and likes differ for each individual. I make Swedish meatballs all the time. I/family like the Swedish MeatBall recipe much better. I did not like the sauce with this recipe. It did not have much of a taste. I felt I was eating meatballs with cream gravy. Anyway, I tried it and you never know until you try something. I won't be making it again, but don't want to be so negative to stop someone else from trying it.

Quick Quiche

Very good recipe. Will make this again. I didn't have the Swiss Cheese, so I added mild cheddar, and I added a small zucchini. Great basic recipe that can be made in so many different ways.

Chicken Spaghetti Casserole I

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
Very good recipe. Had a few pieces of raw chicken and wondering how to fix it. So I boiled it up and used the following recipe. I omitted the pimento and white wine, but followed the other ingredients. Both hubby and I loved it.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Very..very good. I love shepherd's pie. I was a little bit unsure about adding the ketchup (as I never added it before) but it came out really good. Recommend to all as a family keeper. I did however omit the mashed carrots and added frozen mixed vegetables instead. Perfect!

Very good. Reminds me of the one I use to bake (lost the recipe). I did decrease the vanilla and added a bit more coconut.

Sweet Potato Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I liked the cake. It seemed to have a blander taste than I expected. Maybe I was thinking more on the lines of spice cake?? Anyway it was moist - good texture. My husband on the other hand hated it. Refused to even give it a second try.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
Excellent dish! My husband kept saying "this is good" between bites. Trust me, he is not prone to giving out praise. I followed the recipe as given. I did however cut the cayenne pepper in half. I was afraid that the cayenne peper and andouille sausage would be to hot for us. I also added a whole 32 oz container of chicken broth, because I wanted it soupy. I also put in a package of frozen cut okra. Just seemed right some how. HA. A super great recipe and a keeper in this house! Thanks for sharing.

Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
A good recipe for any leftover beans. I used leftover lima beans in mine. I put green chili's instead of the jalapeno ones because my husband can't eat them. I thought they were good. Would never serve over/with a bun tho. Way to much starch. The bean burgers are great as a "side" or as the main dish. My husband on the other hand took a bite and was looking for the trash can. HA. But they are good! COOKING TIP: try taking two spatulas to turn your bugers (or any thing) put one on the back and one on top. When you flip the burgers it rest on the additional spatula and truns easily.

Spaghetti Squash Medley

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
Isn't it funny how we take a recipe and change it up? HA..but this is a wonderful recipe to use whatever veg. you have on hand. I pretty much followed the recipe. I used a can of diced Italian tomatoes. Since I had more veg's than tomatoes (I only had a small can) I added a can of tomato sauce. As suggested I added more garlic than called for. I had a package of frozen cauliflower, brocolli & carrot mixture + I added a few frozen English Peas. I baked it 350 approx 25 minutes. After taking from oven I put cheese on top. So good my husband ate a large portion and took more to work today. Next time I am going to use Rotel and Mexican Cheese for a different variety. YUMMY RECIPE - A KEEPER

I always cook my cabbage dish using bacon and onions...but I must say this recipe is far better. The cheese takes it over the top. One word for this recipe: EXCELLENT.

Great recipe. I doubled the recipe since I was cooking more chicken and it was really good. I did however forget to put in the seasoned salt..I put regular salt in before I realized my error. But was super good anyway. Way to go cassjw

Macaroni and Cheese V

I am really a mac & cheese fan and wanted to try something a little different. Should have stuck to the old recipe I have. Actually I think boxed mac/cheese (not the one's with the powdered cheese) is better than this recipe. I made the recipe as given and my family didn't enjoy it. Sorry

Fig Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
A very good cake. We have fig trees so I am interested in trying new recipes to use them. I did however make the mistake of putting bought cream cheese frosting on it. I like (homemade) cream cheese frosting on carrot and spice cake and since this was similar I though it would work. But sometimes being lazy doesn't work. I will try the frosting recipe given if I make it again. My husband said the cake was good - he did not like the frosting tho.

Tender (course I always use tenderized meat), but a quick and easy way to make smothered steak. Nothing really fancy, but a hearty meal. Will make it again sometime.

Buttermilk Pound Cake I

Delicious cake and so easy to make. I baked mine at 350 degrees for approx. 45 minutes. It came out moist. I would not change the recipe as we thought it very good. Served it with fresh strawberries and a dollop of cool whip...Although it would be great with out the additional garnishes.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Not the greatest chops I have eaten! My husband did not like them. He said there was "nothing special" about them. I used lean chops and they cooked fine and were not mushy or dried out as some have experienced. I used Pam instead of the butter tho. Felt the butter would be to much and I did not want my chops cooking in any extra fat. I don't think I will be making this recipe again.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
Quick and easy to make, but I would rate it as being OK. Nothing really special about it. The taste was OK and the texture fine..it just wasn't a big hit around here. My husband being ex-military wasn't that impressed, and he always talked about this dish before. I did add onions and garlic to mine. No one wanted seconds and some did not even finish their first helping.

Herb Roasted Pork Loin and Potatoes

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
I made this recipe exactly as given only I cooked mine in a slow cooker. The roast was so moist and tender, but did not have alot of flavor. I added exactly the amount of ingredents called for in the recipe and my roast was slightly smaller than the one called for in the recipe. The potatoes were good tho. My husband asked "did you season it"? My anticipation was great, so I was a little disappointed in it. My son (a great cook) said I should have added Kosher salt instead of regular and that would bring out the flavor more?
