Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
This was sooo good. I have been looking for a vanilla frosting for my daughters b-day cake and this is the winner. I just made it as a trial batch and it was so good I think I have a tummy ache from eating to much. I followed your ingredients, but mixed them up my own way. I first took the butter and beat it (w/ electric mixer) until fluffy then added 1 cup powdered sugar, and beat til fluffy, added the next cup of sugar, beat til fluffy. Then I added the vanilla and milk and beat til fluffy again. Tasted and decided to add just a pinch of salt, beat it again and that did it. I may try the recipe again using the cocoa, but am really happy with what I have so far. My one complaint is that it is slightly buttery, I'll have to work on that.

Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
Yum! This was so good. I made it for my fiance and his grandmother and it was gone by the end of the night. I did change a few things however. I misread the recipe and got a smaller sized cool-whip so I omitted the topping of cool-whip and it was still great, I also didn't put the peanut butter cups on top. All in all very good.

Nanny's Bucka

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
This was different. I don't know how else to explain it other than that. I made it for my 10month old daughter, and she wasn't crazy about it. I did not like it at all. My fiance said it was all right, probably not something I'll make again.

Pastry for Single-Crust Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
This recipe always turns out for me. I have tried using different recipes, but always come back to this one. And it is so easy to convert to your liking. For fruit pies I often will add some sugar and/or vanilla into the crust. Great recipe!

Beef Stroganoff with Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
I found that 3 cans of beef broth was to much, I used 2 and probably 11/2 would have been enough. I also did not have any worchestire sauce on hand, so instead of cornstarch to thick the sauce I used a packet of brown gravy. It was still a little thin so next time I'll add 2 packets of gravy. Overall very good I like a lot of sourcream in mine so I added additional to my individual serving. DF who does not like sourcream said that it was good even with it.

Bum's Lunch

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
After reading reviews I decided to add some flavor to this. I only cook for 2 so I cut the recipe in half, and on one cube steak added some A1 steak sauce, and put little cubes of butter instead of spreading, and then topped with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, then potatoe and onion. I also added some whole gralic cloves to this. With the second I added some specailty hot sauce my DF has and also the butter/salt/pepper/onion/potato/garlic. Mine was good nothing out of this world, DF's was too spicy for him. I didn't realize he wasn't eating that hot sauce because it was to hot for him so needless to say he didn't enjoy his meal. I think when I make this again (yes I'll make it again) I'll use Franks hot sauce for DF, and cut out the butter as it was plenty juicy with the steak and hot sauce on them. All in all the recipe is a good base, but I definetly would add some flavor to it.

Swedish Sticky Chocolate Cake (Kladdkaka)

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
WOW! How can you eat more than one piece of this at a time? I made this for my mother-in-law's birthday and we all enjoyed a piece, but it is definfinately sweet. She did ask for the recipe however so she must have liked it. I think I will occasionally make this agian, but probably wont become a regular. Thanks for the recipe.

Mom's Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
I did not think this was that great, and will continue my search in apple crisps. I added more apples as I wanted to use up what I had on hand (8)and also sprinkled in some nutmeg. The apples were mush by the time to top even began to brown, and there was SO much water left the apples were swimming. I ended up draining off this water. We'll see how it is tomorrow.
