Chocolate Chip Cookies
About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Everything. I'm always looking through new recipes, changing old ones, or just remaking old standbys. I love to bake and have requests from friends and family for recipes or a batch of my cookies. For me, working with food is cathartic.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Any big holiday meals are a must, even if I don't enjoy eating half of it (like mashed potatoes and roasts). The hustle and anticipation of big family dinners always gets me excited. Some of the best meals have been with my father (whose specialty is spaghetti bolognese and that's pretty much it). Whenever my mother's not home, we each get our own meat and create a whole feast together. It lets us bond and we get a great meal out of it.
My cooking triumphs
The story goes that when I was two, I made some strange concoction out of pretty much everything I could find in the fridge, decorated it with those little plastic animals and trees you get on a bouche noel and thought I was amazing. It hasn't stopped since.
My cooking tragedies
An angel food cake for my mother's birthday. For some odd reason only part of it rose even though I've made it so many times without that problem.

Oatmeal Craisin Cookies
"I think these are one of the best cookies I've ever had." Coming from my father, who's eat A LOT of cookies, that's pretty good. I added chocolate chips to the recipe. Everyone in my family loves these. The first sheet of cookies turned out really thin (but good and chewy) so I added half a cup of oatmeal to the second half and they became much more granola-ey. I may add half oatmeal, half flour for the next batch. Definately a keeper.

Low-Fat Blueberry Bran Muffins
My family loves these muffins. I made them using old blueberries (you know when they're pretty soft and no flavour) as well as frozen raspberries, changed the vanilla to about two tablespoons of lemon juice, used brown sugar which I decreased by almost half as I used some sweetened raspberry applesauce no one was eating.

Seeduction Bread
My whole family loves this bread. I did make a few changes when I made it as I didn't have things like wheat gluten or millet seeds and I omitted the honey and put in malt extract along with barley flour. In the end, it turned out very moist and light, not quite as dense and sweet as the one from WF.
