About this Cook
Single mom. I work full time, play the piano, play video games with my daughter and boyfriend, love good wine and visiting the wonderful NY wineries, learning to enjoy cooking more. I run with my dogs about 25 miles per week and lift weights, so my recipe choices have turned to the healthy ones. You won't find many fried or baked goods in my recipe box.
My favorite things to cook
Stuff without a ton of ingredients. I don't like spending a fortune on spices.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom hated to cook, so there's no traditions. Because she didn't enjoy it and considered it a chore, I've got the same attitude. I'm getting better and am almost starting to enjoy it now.
My cooking triumphs
Discovering quinoa!
My cooking tragedies
Maybe a roast chicken that was still raw inside.

Ham and Pear Panini
Really good and easy (of course, it's a sandwich). I liked it better with a nice sharp cheddar, which I had to use when my mozzarella went bad. But I'm all about intense flavors.

Spicy Lemon Pork Saute
Is there a secret to making this without it being all dried out? Very disappointed. I used boneless pork chops and followed the recipe exactly. Very tough and dry.

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf
Ehhhh...I'm not a fan of ground turkey and even less a fan of meatloaf, but I gave this a shot. It's OK. My boyfriend loves meatloaf, so we'll see what he thinks when he tries it. OK, updated after the BF ate some. I added a star - he said it's very good, but we both felt it could use more onion and maybe some green peppers? I don't know. I'll make it again. He put extra hot sauce on it. Really couldn't even taste the tbsp that I'd put in the recipe. Maybe a hotter hot sauce next time? I used Frank's.
