Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
THE best white cake I've ever had! I've made this twice now and have had rave reviews both times. I used this recipe for my grandmother's 80th birthday cake and she told me that she wants me to make her another one for her Christmas present! To those who complain about it being like cornbread, I have to wonder if maybe your baking powder is bad? I had to throw out one cake because mine had expired. The cake didn't rise and it looked and tasted like cornbread. Problem solved after buying new baking powder! I added about 1/4 cup milk after reading the reviews, but other than that followed the recipe. This is a wonderful cake, thank you so much for sharing your recipe!

Three-Meat Stromboli

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
Delicious! I was looking for a simple, yummy recipe to take up to a friend and her family after she had surgery and thought stromboli fit the bill. Considering I'd never made it before, I thought it would be a good idea to make it for my family first. Well, when I told my husband what I was making, he was less than excited and told me that he didn't like stromboli. Suprise! He LOVED it! I made one with just ham at one end for my very picky one year old, which he also loved. Hopefully my friend's family will like this as much as mine did!

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
This recipe is amazing! I made these for my husband's family a couple nights ago and they were a huge hit! I did end up using quite a bit more flour, but they turned out fantastic. Everyone raved about them, which I thought was pretty good considering it was my first time making rolls from scratch. I'm pretty sure this will become the one thing I am asked to bring to family dinners!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
Amazing recipe! I would give these 10 stars if I could! Yes, the recipe is a bit confusing, but they were worth it. I used 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, I will probably do half and half next time. I also added chopped walnuts. They were chocolate-y without being too sweet. I made them to take to a friends house and they were devoured very quickly. These will definitely be my go-to cookies from now on! Thanks for sharing.

Barbeque Beef Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
Yummy! I doubled this recipe, kept one for my family and took one over to a friend who was recovering from surgery. My family gave it 10 stars, and my friends said her family loved it as well! This will definitely go in my recipe box, as well as be added to my list of dinners that I can make for family and friends in need.

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
Delicious! I'm always looking for ways to stretch chicken, and I've found that chunking it and then throwing it over pasta is a good way to do that. This recipe is so easy and so yummy, everybody in my family loved it. I did use 2 cans of Italian seasoned diced tomatoes, semi-draining both. I also added a dash or two of red pepper flakes. Served with a salad and we had a yummy, healthy meal that the whole family enjoyed. Thanks for sharing!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2009
YUM! I made these last night with steak tips and they were delicious! Even my picky 22 month old ate a few. Just as easy as the SteamFresh veggies I usually make, but so much better!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Absolutely delicious! I brought this to a sit-and-knit and it was a huge hit! It was the first thing gone. There were about 7 kids there, ages 2-9, and they could barely stop eating it long enough to telling me how good it was. The mother's were raving, too! This was my first time making banana bread and this recipe was so simple. I did take the advice of several reviewers and used three mashed bananas and added some cinnamon and nutmeg. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe!

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Yummy! I've made this recipe a few times now and each time it comes out wonderful. The first time I made it, I doubled the recipe and took it to a dinner at my friend's house. I got rave reviews! I was told a few times that one of the things people liked about it was that it's not as gritty as the recipe from the back of the cornmeal box. This is a really delicious recipe, thanks for sharing!

Peppered Bacon and Tomato Linguine

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
Excellent! I did as others have said and discarded most of the bacon drippings, just using the thin layer that clung to the pan to saute the onion. I left out the garlic because my father-in-law is allergic. This is a super easy meal that my whole family loved.

Delicious! I made this yesterday and we can't get enough of it. I followed the advice of other reviewers and used half a cup of applesauce and half a cup of oil, 2 cups white sugar and one cup brown. I also added craisins and chopped walnuts. Yum! It was so easy to make and everybody loved it.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
Just what I was looking for! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out delicious. My husband told me it tasted like the inside of a peanut butter cup. I used this to frost chocolate cupcakes (used a family recipe) and couldn't have been happier with the results. Definitely make sure you have a glass of milk handy! Thanks for sharing this yummy, easy recipe.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
The best meatballs I've ever made! I haven't had a chance to try the sauce yet, but the meatballs are delicious. I pan fry them since my husband likes them to be crispy on the outside. I've taken to dropping two or three into my store-bought sauce while it heats up, which adds a nice flavor to the sauce. I can't wait to give the sauce a try, I'm sure it's delicous!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Yum! This recipe was wicked good, although I found that it called for too much milk. It ended up being a bit runny. But it tasted delicious! I made the Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II from this site, then added some egg noodles for the last 25 minutes. I served the sauce over the noodles, then topped with the chicken. The hubby loved it! I will definitely be making this again.

Brined Bratwurst

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
This recipe is so good! I made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I both loved it. Last time I made brats I used the Beer Brats recipe from this site, this recipe is 100 times better. The onions tasted great, and the brats were delicious. The only thing I changed was browning them in a frying pan instead of grilling them. Will deinitely have the hubby grill them when I make them this summer, but winters in Maine are not condusive to grilling. I will definitely be making this again!

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This recipe is delicious! I did tweak it just alittle. I added Montreal Chicken seasoning with the oregano and pepper, leaving out the salt. I also ended up adding quite a bit more water and chicken broth. I only have a big crock pot, and I needed enough liquid to cover the chicken so it wouldn't dry out. Also, I added about half a bag of egg noodles for the last 25 minutes or so. Yum! My one year old son loved the noodles, and my husband loved the whole dish. I made the Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce, which I used to top the noodles. I threw the chicken on top of that and voila! I will definitely be making this again and again!

Pork Chops in Beer

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
Yummy! I actually made this in the crock pot. I just threw everything in and then went shopping for the day! I used semi-frozen chops and cooked it on low all day. My husband loved it! As usual with the crock pot, the chops were very tender. They also had great flavor. I will definitely be making this again!
