My favorite things to cook
Anything that makes people go "mmmm!" When I first started cooking, I stuck with what I knew how to do, which was breakfast items and baked goods. Now I just love finding new ways to play with old recipes and experiencing new flavours in recipes I've never made. I cook for fun, and I like challenging myself in the kitchen, whether it be with a new cooking process or using what I have on hand in my pantry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every December my mom and I would bust out bakeware and make all sorts of sweet Christmas goodies: cookies, truffles, fudge, caramel corn...you name it. Now she leaves a lot of the holiday baking to me, and I love every minute of it!
My cooking triumphs
Making new york style cheesecake right....the first time! Every new recipe I try that makes people fight for the last helping is a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
There are always goof-ups, but that's part of the learning process. I remember once I tried to make bread (I don't own a bread machine). It smelled great in the oven, but when I popped it out, it was the size and weight of a large brick...I hadn't let the dough rise long enough! Still tasted good, just.... you know, dense.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread
This bread is deliciously moist, and even better the next day. It's also a healthier alternative to quick breads made with oil and whole eggs. Next time I'll have to try it with wheat flour!

Pumpkin Crunch Cake
I did not make this personally, but a coworker brought this into work....it was delicious! I love that is different from your traditional pumpkin breads and pies.

Zucchini Brownies
I don't know what I did wrong, but these turned out a lot more gooey than expected...not that it made any difference on flavor. Loved them! They seemed like they hadn't cooked long enough, but my oven was burning the top before the middle could finish baking. Next time I'll have to use a different oven.
