About Me
I've loved to cook ever since I won a pancake contest in the 2nd grade! I'm pretty creative and I love how cooking allows me to express myself in so many different ways. I love having friends & family over for a meal and good times, whether it's watching a game or having a bbq. When the table's quiet except for mmm's & wow's it makes me feel so proud.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill. I also enjoy cooking Italian. Sushi is my favorite food, but I am admittedly still a beginner when it comes to preparing it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom, twin sister, and I (along with any of our friends who want to join us) get together to make loads of Christmas cookies using all kinds of recipes. We have a "secret" family punch recipe that we mix up first. Needless, to say, by the time the cookies are finished, we're all a little tipsy and having the time of our lives! Everyone gets to take home a combination of all the cookies and they usually last all through the holidays. I really love that tradition.
My cooking triumphs
That's a tough one. I love to grill. Asian inspired salmon steaks and Balsamic/olive oil marinated Ribeye's are probably my biggest Wow! dishes from the grill. Lamb chops with balsamic reduction comes to mind...add my black truffle mashed potatos to any of the above...yum! I'm making myself hungry! ;)
My cooking tragedies
One time, I accidentally dumped a whole shaker of salt into a pot of Old Settlers Beans. I was able to get most of it out, but it was still way too salty. I've since learned that if you put a peeled potato in and let it simmer a while it will absorb the excess salt.
