Delicious! I used slivered almonds instead (toasted in a hot dry pan stirring constantly till lightly browned) and also added a bit of salt. Used 3 tablespoons in our pasta, then froze the rest in an ice cube tray. Once frozen, transferred them out of the ice cube tray and into a zippered freezer bag for future use.

Slow Cooker Baked Beans

These are the best tasting beans ever. My fellow was the one who put this recipe together and instead of the salt pork, he used chopped bits of ham from a large smoked bone-in ham from Sunday's dinner, and also added 1 tsp. salt, 1/4 cup ketchup and about 1 Tbsp vinegar to the existing recipe, and it was perfect. When he was precooking the beans, he had to add a little extra water once or twice, so they didn't dry up too much, but everything else the same. No more Libby's canned beans for us. This was better. Please use more water to steam, as some others said you will run dry and possibly burn your pot. And it did take at least 45 minutes to steam. I serve mine with a delicious dip made of equal parts of mayo and parmesan cheese. Then just pluck the leaves off, dip and scrape the flesh off with your teeth. Discard remaining leaf. Mmmmm!!

Turkey Soup with Slickers

A very good soup. I sauteed my onion with a large clove of garlic first for extra flavor, then I added a few more veggies that I had in the fridge (like diced turnip and yam) and left out the dill. I had some leftover gravy from Thanksgiving and added that in at the end to thicken it a bit. Being short on time, I just added broken up wide egg noodles for the last 20 minutes. We had a couple of main meals and a few lunches with this soup. Yummy !
