Skillet Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I didn't really like this very much. It tasted sort of strange and a bit bland. I increased the seasoning and added a bit of my own which helped some, but not much. But then my younger sister told me that it smelled a lot like chinese noodles. So I decided to add noodles which really made it taste A LOT better. Thats the only reason I'm even giving it 3 stars. With the noodles and a few more alterations, I might make it again.

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: May 29, 2009
It was really good but it was way too oily so suggest that the chicken spends some good amount of time in the oven. Also, you should probably double or triple the seasoning.

Wisconsin Five-Cheese Bake

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
So frickin awasome. I use dry parsley instead of fresh yet I keep the measurement the same. Also I sometimes use Montary jack cheese instead of provolone. It gives it more flavor. But it is a bit stronger so make sure not to use too much.

Bermuda Spinach Salad

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Soo good. My whole family loved it, and we're really not even salad people. I put it all in the blender so that I could get the full flavor of the onion. Also, I love sweet things but the sugar was a bit much. I'll defintiely decrease it a tad next time.

Fettuccini with Mushroom, Ham and Rose Sauce

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This was really good. I kinda forgot that I didn't really like mushrooms that much so I'll definitely omit that next time. Instead of using heavy cream I just mixed 2 % evaporated milk with cornstarch and I swear to you it tastes exactly the same. I'm not like a health food nut or anything but I just wanted to try something different. Totally worth it! It's a really good sauce so you could probaly sub the ham with different types of meats. I'm going to try shrimp next. I also used one green pepper and used half the amount of seasoning called for. And oh yea, this recipes is definitely missing something... Parmesan Cheese! It really added a lot of flavor.

Southern Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Maybe I did something wrong but this didnt really taste like what I was expecting. It was a bit off and kind of dry. I just wasn't into it. Maybe it was because I didn't have any butter extract. I tried to use butter flavor shortening to make up for it whenever I could but that didn't do much. Actually, I think that's what made the frosting taste kinda gross. Shortening in frosting?? Is that normal?

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
I usually omit the cheese and increase everything by about a half in order to cover a whole loaf. Also I always add more garlic cause there's never too much garlic.

I usually use this to replace cajun seasoning or in conjuction with it. It always works.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Freakin awsome. It's funny because the whole day I was desperately craving something sweet, but I didn't have any eggs. I couldn't find any good recipes so I just gave up. Then I stumbled across these and just freaked out when I realized that there weren't any eggs in them. That was also a plus because then I could eat the cookie dough without the fear of dropping dead from salmonella. The cookie dough was soo good!! I actually like it better than the baked cookies. I left out the raisins which were fine and just used the chocolate chips. Next time I think that I might decrease the amount of chips because I thought they were a bit much. Also, they didn't seem done so I increased the baking time which was definitely the right choice.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Pretty good. My brother and sister thought these were the best brownies I had ever made. My mother and I on the other hand thought that these were just okay. My brother doesn't like nuts so I just left those out. Also, because of other reviewers suggestions, I added about a half a cup of chocolate chips because my philosphy is, the more the better. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with these. I found the chips really unnecessary and my sister just didn't like them. I ended up making about half the frosting which turned out a bit runny so I just drizzled it on top of the brownies in pretty little swurls. Again, I didn't find the frosting all too neccessary either. I'm not a health nut or anything but why waste the calories if it doesnt add anything to it? Not sure if it was my oven but I baked it like an extra 10 mins. All in all, not bad.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This was good, but everyone around me thought it was great. My dad especially raved about it. I put the cheese in between two slices of ham so that it wouldn't melt into the sauce. But I didn’t want to use thinly sliced deli ham because it’s too salty and doesn’t have the same great taste, so I used good quality thickly sliced ham. But instead of using two thickly sliced pieces of ham in between cheese which would be too "hammy", I used one good quality piece of ham and added a thin sliced piece of deli ham on top of it and that was enough to hold the cheese in. It came out great and it didn’t affect the taste at all. And since most of the cheese is held in the chicken, I melted one more slice of cheese into the sauce mixture. Also, I didn’t have white wine so I highly suggest using half white wine vinegar and half water. Can’t taste the difference. Delicious.
