Pumpkin Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
Exceptionally good dessert! I was in the mood for something that was seasonally appropriate and this thoroughly satisfied my family's sweet tooth (even the picky ones). I did make a few adjustments according to other reviews. I added vanilla into the yellow cake mix. I added nutmeg and about 1 cup brown sugar to the topping to avoid being bland as others stated. Omitted the walnuts because we do not care for them. Turned out spectacular! Tastes amazing the next day! Must keep for holiday gatherings!

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Great chili receipe as is! I made a few adjustments for my own taste preferences. I sauteed 3 teaspoons of minced garlic before adding ground beef to add some flavor in the meat. I omitted the celery and added 1 can of kernel corn for a nice contrast of sweet and spicy flavors. I also added 2 tablespoons of chopped jalepeno for some extra spice. After 1.5 hours of simmering, I served it with fresh baked corn bread and topped it off with a dallop of sour cream and fresh cilantro. This is an excellent dish, all the flavors blend perfectly together! Thanks for the great receipe George!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
Overall I wasn't impressed by the dish, the broth was okay and the meat was tender but very bland in taste. I followed the recipe except I omitted the salt as others suggested. I added the bell peppers, and mushrooms in at the end of cooking. I cooked it at 4 hours on high. I also added worstershire sauce. Will not make again.

Pasta with Peas and Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
I loved it! I used spicy italian sausage instead and thought it complimented the sweetness of the dish really well. I used some fresh ground parmesean and really loved it. I would recommend using a little more half & half or milk because the sauce turned out to be really thick,I like more runny sauces for white sauce on noodle dishes.

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Very good, I added a little extra cheese for my taste preferences. The artichoke dip was a hit, the taste is even better a few days in the fridge when the flavors have merried together.

Katrina's Best-Ever Chocolate Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I followed the the directions exactly and the brownies turned out alright. They were moist, however tasted a bit floury for my taste. An easy, simple dish to whip if you are short on supplies and just wanting something sweet for the house.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
With the substitutions given from the member below it was the best carrot I have ever had. My fiance's family loved it so much, they are requesting it for birthdays now. These simple modifications make a huge difference in the overall outcome of the cake. •3/4 cups canola oil •2 cups sugar (1 cup white, 1 cup brown) •3 teaspoons vanilla extract •¼ teaspoon nutmeg •½ cup apple sauce •1 8oz. can of crushed pineapple I would also recommend only using 3.5 cups of sugar for the frosting because 4 cups seemed a bit too sweet for my preference.
